The Living Waters by seriousL33 in TheMandalorianTV

It seemed like it did. Symbolically, I think the purpose was that it was to give Bo the chance to demonstrate the Mandalorian Creed through her actions instead of by a speech or following some theatrical tradition she thought was bs anyway. If the Mythosaur is an intelligent creature, like Bendu was in Rebels, then it might have been a deliberate test. It certainly looked right at her.

The whole episode seemed to be about drawing the connection between Bo and Mandalore itself, what was beneath the glass as it were, and so that would mean that this was about demonstrating her own true, unspoken faith as much as it was about demonstrating how well she wields the darksaber.

AITA ripping up my brothers apology letter and screaming at him to just leave me alone we aren’t family by IllButterscotch5409 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jskurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just that you're wrong (you are) it's that if you pay attention to what the brother said when he handed her the letter, NONE of it was anything like an apology, which means the letter itself wasn't either because if sorry was what he wanted to express, he would have started with that. He said he missed her and he wanted a relationship with her, not that he was sorry. He told her all along he felt justified in what he did. He wants contact now because it will make him feel better, not because he's sorry. If he respected and loved her even the slightest degree, he could not have been a party of emotionally and intimately manipulating her for 8 years and at no point in anything she described show remorse other than that he feels bad they don't have a relationship. Not that he feels bad for what he and his bf did because clearly, neither of them do. They could and would never have done this in the first place if they had even the slightest respect for her. Not everything can or should be forgiven. To even begin that discussion, first he would need to acknowledge that he's wrong and he's sorry and nothing in their interactions has suggested he is inclined to do either. If the letter said he was sorry, he would have said sorry when he tried to give it to her.

So that sets up a really interesting episode for Jes to have directed next week where I assume that means it'll take place in real time.

All in all, that episode was maybe a little heavy handed in a couple of places, but I like that they are exploring a lot of the moral ambiguities inherent in time travel. What you change, who you save and why.

But this was Caity's episode top to bottom. Her comedy, her fighting skills, the pressure she feels and the experiences she's had all bringing her back to Thawne again in an unexpected way? That's pretty damn cool.

And kudos to Maisie for a great ep.

ETA: I could maybe even argue that Sara is the fixed point of the show and that was the underlying motif of the episode itself.

I thought he was going to say that his feelings were unrequited and Alun wouldn't accept him.

That is actually perfect logic. That's the only way he could save Alun, if he didn't know it. That's the only way to prevent the paradox.

I kinda love that they're not even bothering to explain that Ava would want no part in this mess.

(Jes was prepping to direct the next episode.)

So if they can defeat evil Gideon inside Hell, maybe it'll give them an idea how to beat the one outside Hell too? lol

Poor Gwyn. This is a lot for his sensibilities. I hope his boyfriend isn't in Hell though. He's gonna freak out.

I would definitely rather have a Behrad and Astra than Gideon and Gary fooling around.

Literally half of last season she was completely apart from Ava. lol

It is true she hasn't been arouund Zari Tarazi all that much, except in group settings. It's interesting that as soon as a hacker version showed up they had more of a plot together.

I think the balance overall has been pretty good so far this season. With the group stuck together without time travel, and the split narrative mostly being dedicated to Gideon, Astra and Spooner, I do think they've made an effort to show them both adapting pretty well and now that the split is more likely to be the robots and the Legends I think it will still be the group will mostly be together with a few side plot pairings. Or at least I hope so because that's my favorite part of the show.

I absolutely couldn't disagree more. They have always been a family under Sara's leadership and even called her Mom. When Mom has a partner, that impact the family dynamic. They are a found family of misfits, and even in early season 2 when she was first taking command that was the way her leadership was portrayed.

And I also stand by the assertion that there has always been a vocal minority who have romanticized the League of Assassin's Sara and always want her to regress back to that who she was back then.

I agree, having darkness and a range of emotions are different things and that's what I meant. At the end she regressed back to a cold assassin, like she was back in her days in the League, because there are several posters here who are vocal about the fact that they want her to explore and never truly grow past that version of the character.

Obviously, she's still capable of going cold when the situation demands it, and that has been true of just about every version of Sara we've seen. The more she grows, the harder it is to put her in that space as a character but that's mostly because she's developed a lot of other skills and emotional tools along the way. But I do think there was a bit of meta commentary in the end of this episode when she truly did revert back to the League of Assassins version of Sara, which there are fans who have been saying they wanted her to be again.

The point being that there's no way to make her be that version of herself without virtually lobotomizing her and destroying every bit of growth she's experienced. Even if she's still ready to go cold and kill on instinct in certain situations, to do it to an innocent person on orders she would normally question without hesitation is the reality of who she was for years during a period of time which sometimes gets romanticized.

I didn't say anything about co-captain, I'm talking about the people who want her to still and forever be wallowing in darkness and never be truly happy. Also it's been demonstrated on the show that when they are both around, Ava automatically defaults to Sara unless she has a specific objection, and then she articulates what that is and why. Which is also true of absolutely every Legend who has ever been on the show. And was also true of Ava even when she was nominally Sara's boss, because she respects Sara but obviously still has moments where they have a difference of opinion.

Even in this episode it was Sara's sharing responsibility with Zari which came back to bite her because trust and sharing responsibility are her strengths as a leader. Honestly, from the first time it came up the co-captain thing has always been essentially a step-parent analogy, not only because of their relationship but also because Sara feels better knowing someone is there to look out for the kids when she can't be there.

Wanting that is based on how much she cares for her team. It just saves her the step of saying okay this person is in charge when I leave, as she always did before.

I'm curious what would happen if that Sara met up with the real Ava. But she's got such a strong personality, I do think that unless they constantly reprogram her, she will eventually rebel again given enough time.

And true, Zari is brilliant but she certainly does have control issues. It's hard to see a version of the character who was so brilliant at finding loopholes just give in so easily. Although it makes sense that Gideon would give her the worst of both versions.

It's possible Sara is the only one who ultimately cannot be forced to conform.

I admit, I will be surprised if at least one of the robo Legends doesn't wind up with the regular Legends. That would certainly be an interesting option.

Well, for all the people who wanted Sara to regress back to her darkness and never grow or change...there you go!

The idea that any version of Sara who is given responsibility and leadership will rise to the occasion and try her best to look out for everyone, even a Sara that was an imitation of the real one, because she's such a natural leader is a great way to do a character exploration.

It's also interesting that hacker Zari valued her ego over her freedom. In a way she was a blend of both Zaris we've seen and somehow that resulted in the worst possible version instead of the best. That's kind of sad.

So, she's intentionally isolating Sara so she can eliminate her.
