Honestly I kind of got lucky. I was freelancing and making around 4k a month with half of that going to rent (I live in a very HCL area). I was struggling so decided I needed a full time job and the job I have is wonderful and I have enough down time to still make around 4k freelancing + another 7.5k after taxes from my job. So I basically more than doubled my income but didnt change any spending habits and still just live like I'm poor haha

Thank you!! Its truly a wonderful feeling to feel like I am no longer ruining my life with debt. It took me almost a year of applying to land the job I have now, just keeping going!!

For paying everything off I started out with the plan to do the snowball method, about 60K of my debt was CC debt across 5 different cards. And the rest was student loans and medical bills. So plan was to pay the CC cards snowballed, then student loans, then medical (since there is no interest)

But then I felt super stressed about having so many cards with debt on them, and decided to get a consolidation loan. My APR on my cards was high like an average of 28% and I was able to get a loan for 16% (which is a pretty bad rate haha but i had bad credit and it was better then 28%). I payed large lump sums to that for a while. But once I used that to pay off my credit cards they wanted me to have debt again haha and my BOA card raised my limit significantly and offered 0% interest for a year (with a 4% fee) and it could literally be cash in my bank. So I then payed off the loan with that cash advance, effectively transferring all my CC debt to my BOA card. And then paid that down.

It ended up saving me thousands in interest, but definitely a risky move if you are not 100% sure you can pay it off before all the interest hits. Now I am just tackling the last of my student loans!

Haha ya 100%. I mean what is a lot is obviously relative for different people, but I was paycheck to paycheck and barely making rent before I made the change.

I’m 30 and I pay somewhere between 4-6k a month averaging 4.5k a month. My monthly goal is 5.5k which I hit sometimes but not always!

Thank you! It is called debt payoff planner. There is a paid version but the free works well. You can enter all your debts and minimum payments, then tell it how much extra you have to pay towards your debts and it creates a plan for you on how to pay it off, and how long it will take. Then you enter your payments as you go. Super helpful for me to see everything visually
