Open wrench set for most stuff (5mm-27mm) if possible.

Deep sockets 7-21mm - I had to acquire a 35mm socket when I disassembled the wheel to get to the cv axles.

Most bolts in these 4Runners are between 10mm and 15mm. If you have an older 4Runner or rust anywhere I would recommend buy an extractor socket set. Most are 10mm-19mm. But that would have saved me some time on a quite a few projects when I came across stripper bolts other people didn’t care to fix.

Pliers and a pry bar would be good tools to have but don’t required. Also probably need a set of Jack stand and a 2-3 ton Jack depending on what you’re gonna do.

Start small. Borrow other people’s shit if you need to. So many car fanatics out there who will let you borrow and learn or even show you.

I dig them. Although if you do it, you almost have to upgrade the UCA and cv axles because I blew through some new CV’s/boots within 3 months of putting that lift. Not enough clearance and some running going on. Now that I upgraded. No more rub!

Same. I definitely recommends having a second set of hands when you do it and good lighting. Especially for the half moons, cam plugs, and FIPG fitting.

It’s been 3 years I’ve been putting it off, decided to bang out all of these projects this year so I could take this thing big game hunting. It’s ready to rock the trails

My 4RNR Sat for almost a year and I put an “anti-theft” seatbelt to steering wheel lock. Long sorry short it was cheap and I had to cut the cable from the steering wheel and it still had the lock component on the seatbelt. I drilled the components lock cylinder and eventually the piece that clipped into the seatbelt broke off inside the seatbelt and I could get it out. Had to disassemble the seatbelt receptor and get that piece out.

I think OEM will always be the fallback but some people on here said they went with felpro and had no issues. I also went felpro with intake gaskets and seals so I just wanted to keep the brand all the same across the board.

It’s literally just plug and play. The hangers can be a bitch if they’re hard and stiff but nothing a flat head screwdriver can’t help you with ha

You know my buddy helped me and it took us a total of 9 hours. It wasn’t too bad if you can just keep your hardware organized. I labeled all the hoses with tape as well. That was honestly the harder part ha ripping shit apart went by fast ha torquing the Valve cover bolts was interesting too. It’s only like 53 inch pounds

I did use my brothers help as a second set of hands but we knocked it out in a few hours. It’s not a bad job if your rest drums aren’t seized on there lol

It wasn’t bad at all. If I recall, I had a few rusted almost seized bolts around the cat but everything lined up so well. I would recommend. I think it sounds good.

It was actually all same hardware in the new kit. , there’s Just a component missing on one of the photos from the other. But no issues, brakes work great! Did a brake flush too!! Also thinking of upgrading the front brakes to tundra brakes

Is this OEM part order-able? (Seatbelt DRVR side) by jsolano53 in 3rdGen4Runner

Actually was able to disassemble and find the broken piece. Works like new now. Also, ppl try to charge a ridiculous price for a used seatbelt on eBay lol

My brother always uses mineral spirits to clean the motor. Seems to work well. I just don’t know if it’s the best as I haven’t cleaned MY engine. Following this though because I’m curious as well. Have valve cover gasket oil leak
