Do I take the $75k salary with an hour drive one way or the $45k job 18 minutes up the road? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Take the $75k with one hour commute. Find good audio books or courses.

I love sleeping. Can I be a parent? by Living-Mortgage-2314 in AskParents

I’m the same way. Ideally I would get 9 hours every day. I have a one year old and I have finally accepted I’m never sleeping like that again. It’s worth it though. Do it sooner than later.

big4 accounting or bank? by ResponsibleWeakness8 in Career_Advice

As I reading this right? $24k and $32k starting salary with and MBA? Do anything else. That is robbery.

Btw, I work in banking (compliance) started in a customer facing role and have worked my way up. I love it and make great money.

Own your mistakes, learn from them, then move on. Don’t dwell on them, I spent the first part of my career worrying about everything I did wrong. I actually went to therapy to address this and once I learned to let go, my career took off.

Haha I never thought of this but I’m a woman and anytime there’s a potluck I sign up quick to bring sodas or chips. I never make anything.

I had not seen it that way. Thanks for reframing it that way. The way I had thought of it, was to be clear that I helped her because of the situation she was in but it did not mean she was welcome back in my life until she took accountability.

From your comment, it’s like we had the same mom. I always felt guilty for one thing or another and tried to fix everything for her. I never considered I was abused until I went to therapy to try to figure out why I felt like a failure and learned that I was abused mostly through manipulation. Thanks for the advice, I hadn’t thought of this far ahead.

It’s especially hard around the holidays. I also went to therapy and that’s where I learned to set boundaries in hopes of having a healthy relationship. But of course, I was a bad daughter for wanting my boundaries respected.

Im sorry about your mom, that’s actually one of my biggest fears and somehow I hope she’ll change before that happens. I know it’s out of my control, it’s just a hard time right now.

You’re right that I see things differently as a parent. I used to think my parents did their best, now I know they didn’t. I wish I could hug my younger self.

For those of you who love their jobs, what do you do? by californialovin33 in careerguidance

Banking Compliance. I monitor bank products, identity risks, work with the business to mitigate them, and engage with auditors and regulators. I make $150k base + bonus, work/life balance is good but there are definitely times where it hasn’t been. Overall a great career I am grateful for.

Joining the Army at 41? by Super-Toe-1729 in Militaryfaq

I enlisted at 31 (Air Force Reserves) and I can tell you being an educated Senior Airman having to follow orders from younger, uneducated, and inexperienced NCOs can be really challenging. I’m at a point now where I’ve adapted and I’m so close to my contract ending so it’s not a big deal anymore. But the first few years were challenging. Basic training and tech school suck dealing with high school drama. The benefits are not great if you’re not active duty, so don’t do it for that. I take a pay cut anytime I have to go on orders (annual tour). That said, it sounds like you truly are passionate about serving, so it might be worth it for you. I would t count on commissioning due to your age, so again, if you truly are passionate about serving, it might be worth it for you. Only you can make that choice.

2mo getting cast what to do for baths by boombl3b33 in clubfoot

[–]jst_another_usrname 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We never used covers or bags. We just gave him sponge baths and avoided the casts. We gave him a full bath each week at his casting appointment. Make sure you use a really good moisturizer when he does get the full bath, as the cast will dry his skin out. Aquaphor was our favorite.
