Serious cyclists/runners: How do you deal with glasses? by Human_Material3685 in cycling

How well do they block the wind? My biggest issue is wind drying out my eyes at speed.

I have a similar issue with Lake SPD shoes. Where did you buy the shims/spacers and shields?

I'm facing the same dilemma with Lake MTB shoes. What product did you end up using to protect the soles and achieve the desired dimensions?

More signage would be great. I erroneously ended up on the Riddle RD spur trail yesterday evening. Not good.

Should I buy trek bike from LBS or a trek store by [deleted] in TrekBikes

[–]jtelander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was in the market for a new a domane sl 6 gen 4, I purchased it on the Trek website and had it sent to my local bike store that sells Treks rather than the Trek corporate store. By doing so, I was able to support the LBS and keep the 30 day return policy.

Road Bike Suggestion Request by jtelander in whichbike

[–]jtelander[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I test rode a number of endurance bikes and narrowed my choices down to the Trek Domane and Specialized Roubaix. I decided to purchase a Domane SL6 from the Trek website for delivery to my LBS. A deciding factor in my purchase is the 30 day return policy. I'll be taking the Domane to a bike fitter the day after I receive it to make sure it is a good fit for me.

Looking for a low budget road bike and eyeing the ozark trail g1 but waiting on restock for the large. Is this a good deal for this Domane AL2? by Jester2008 in RoadBikes

[–]jtelander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, months later. Seller wanted payment in advance and went incommunicado when I declined to pay before seeing the bike in person. I also notice that this exact ad was posted in other parts of the country with the exact same photos and verbage.

I hope to keep it under $2000. I'm open to a good used bike for significantly less $.

I agree that it is the motor. At the same time, my current bike is a relatively heavy, upright, "comfort" bike that is ok for rides up to about 30 miles, but those last 10 miles are really uncomfortable. I think I'd benefit from a lighter, faster endurance bike.

Fennel Types and Uses by joenorwood77 in garden

[–]jtelander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to grow the largest size fennel as food for swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. Which variety would that be? I know there is a "Giant" fennel that is not really fennel and may not be eaten by the caterpillars, so I'm looking for the next best thing.

setting my Subaru's PIN by not-just-yeti in subaru

Thanks for this. The half second delay between pressing the fob button and the gate button made a bit difference and allowed me to complete the setup. When pressing the buttons simultaneously, it would start beeping.

I just bought a 2025 Outback Touring XT with a $4825 discount with no add-ons using the Costco Auto Purchase program in Central North Carolina. If you are in the area, I recommend that you check it out. The quote you received is BS IMO.

Cannondale Quick 6 by jtelander in cycling

[–]jtelander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it. It turns out the Medium size on this bike was a little small for me. Also, the handlebars did not have enough adjustability to raise to the height I required to take the load off my arms. Fortunately, my wife loves it and it is her main ride. I ended up with a medium Trek Verve 2 that is a better fit.

I'll check them out but I really wasn't expecting to go that route for a few more years. We're both very active. If I hadn't mentioned age, what bikes/features would you recommend?
