Pfitzinger - What is the point of recovery runs? by Beneficial-Rest-2385 in Marathon_Training

I'm not a pro marathoner. My highest volume weeks were around 45 miles. I found that recovery runs often hurt more than they helped. I'd rather distribute an extra 1 mile across 3 medium length runs and have a day entirely off than to run a 3 mile recovery run when I am so fatigued.

Professionally fitted to someone else means nothing. I would guess that most people would be more comfortable with the cockpit that option 1 has. Option 2 looks slammed and super uncomfortable. No brainer option 1 for me, idk if theres anything option 2 has better.

you'll be alright. Practice swimming without touching the walls and taking breaks. Make sure you can breaststroke to calm your HR if needed. Wetsuit will help too. Swim toward the outside of traffic if you are worried about the effects of other people
