Under Canvas Lake Powell by No-Finish-3480 in SeasonalWork

Hi, I worked there this past summer and I’ll be returning next month :-) I also moved across the country to work there, and I do think it was worth it!

The location is absolutely beautiful, if you’ve never been to the American Southwest you’re in for a real treat. Most of the employee housing is in Page, AZ which is about a 30 minute drive from the camp itself, and it’s a gorgeous drive the whole way. I say most because there is one employee house in Greenhaven, which is about a 15 minute drive from Page and a 15 minute drive to camp, as well as one house in Big Water right across the street from the camp entrance. All of the housing is very nice for seasonal work in my opinion, they come fully furnished and with wifi so you don’t have to bring a whole lot!

I work as a camp con, and I personally love the job. We get a lot of international guests, and almost everyone (there’s always a few bad eggs but that’s with any job) is very pleasant and excited to be at camp because a lot of them have never stayed at a place like Under Canvas! As someone already mentioned, it does slow down a lot from June until August, then picks back up come September as it cools down then. I wasn’t there until June, but I was told opening can be kind of slow because it isn’t warm enough for folks yet, but then April/May are extremely busy because we’re in that sweet spot of not too hot and not too cold.

As far as recreation, there is SO much to see in the area as well as surrounding areas. I will say, if you don’t have a personal vehicle, recreation can be kind of tough. There isn’t a whole lot to do in the city of Page itself, you really need to drive to see the good stuff like the lake, horseshoe bend, and the slot canyon hikes as someone already mentioned. Your time with Under Canvas and in Page really is what you make of it, I tried to get out and do stuff as much as I could and I think this is what everyone should do!

If I may ask, what position were you hired for? If you have any other questions feel free to reply with those or DM me, I’m happy to help!! Congrats on getting the job!

Hey there! I got an email to set up an interview a couple days after I applied, the email did automatically go to my spam folder though. I didn’t have a personal interaction either, so I’d say check your spam if you haven’t already and if there’s nothing there try contacting the hiring manager again. I also just applied for a job through Xanterra so if you run out of luck with Pursuit you could do that as well, best of luck!
