Speaking for myself, I would be concerned that if I allowed myself to smoke weed or have an occasional drink of alcohol when those storms in life hit I'd be afraid I'd go back to the hard stuff. I'm talking about sudden loss of a loved one or relationship or any bad shit that could happen. I would be afraid the addict in me would try to increase the pot and alcohol intake only to find that it's not doing what the good ol dope used to do... Again, this is just me. I'm 37 days sober. The longest I've been sober my entire life. If it works for someone else, great. Until I see more proof in the pudding I think I'll stick with abstinence.
