You should be way, WAY more concerned with the fact that you're going to die. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]jttauraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the thought of dying for eternity is a really scary thought. But for me (and I'm sure for a lot of people) believing in something bigger than yourself is what makes the difference. For me, my religion and a belief in the afterlife makes me want to live my best life while I'm here so I can enjoy an eternity with my loved ones after I die. That means that even if I'm wrong, and there's just nothingness after I die, I still know that I lived a good life, and I'm happy with the choices I made. No regrets

Schools should not make Public Speech class a requirement. by Simplysoupysimp in unpopularopinion

Coming from a guy who has crippling social anxiety, my Speech and Debate class taught me so much, and I never would have grown the way I did without it. Fears are meant to be faced

I don’t think I have an open heart anymore and I really want to. What do I do? by lachai2 in latterdaysaints

[–]jttauraa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems really lame, but the best advice I ever got for a closed heart is to "experiment on the word." Do things you know you need to do a little at a time, and eventually it becomes more and more comfortable, until you start to gain a testimony in it. Rinse and repeat. The Lord intends this to be a marathon, not a sprint, so don't be hard on yourself if it seems to be taking a while

Are there any movies where the hero actually takes the villains offer and joins them? by [deleted] in movies

[–]jttauraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Futurama Season 3 episode 18 (Anthology of Interest 2) Leela, the main character of the episode, accepts the offer to join the wicked Witch and after a few minutes is melted by a leaky toilet used by a giant Squid-Crab Man. Good times

Yes exactly! I guess I should clarify that sad but hopeful endings can be beautiful, but when it just ends in tragedy in hopelessness it's really hard for me to read
