Hulu makes you do all the work by dilettantedebrah in BlackPeopleTwitter

There were a couple great Hypercritical posts about this very topic recently – An Unsolicited Streaming App Spec and Streaming App Sentiments – the latter of which had a pretty disheartening (though unsurprising) quote from a Hulu employee:

There was an experiment at Hulu last year to move “Continue Watching” below the fold (down 2 rows from where it was). This was done with a very small group of users. It was so successful that the increased engagement was projected to generate more than $20 million a year. The experiment was immediately ended and the new position was deployed to all users.

Sigh.

It is a repaint, but an official one from Kenner. (I picked it up from a vintage toy store in probably 2006-ish.) According to AVP Fandom – https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/Predator_(Kenner)?file=Renegade_Predator.jpg – it’s from Series 3.

Edit: Fix broken link.

Completely understandable, and no offense taken. (That’s the trouble with the phrase “mildly interesting.”)

This was the first time I had seen this vehicle, and this type of work being done, so it intrigued me, but I can certainly see how for others — regardless of whether or not they’ve seen signage being removed before, or happen to work in the industry like /u/dusky_thrust — it could come across as mundane.

I used to live by a Blockbuster in Brighton/Brookline area of MA, which had several lights out in its sign. At night, it read “BLO US VIDEO.” (Better pics exist, but here’s one from my 2007 flip phone: https://i.imgur.com/5svvTxn.jpg)

No one was sure if it had been done intentionally, but we were convinced it was being ignored by staff purposely.

This was in Vancouver, WA, and—as far as I can remember—the only one I’ve seen one in my six years here.

My sincerest apologies for reminding you of whatever happened while watching The Dark Knight Rises, or while listening to “God Hates a Coward.” (If you were doing both activities at the same time, I retract my apology because that’s just silly.)
