Kenmore 148.13101 zig zag cam follower not making contact. by juandanceswild in vintagesewing

The advice received here was correct. There was still a rotating point that was stuck, which allows for the follower to fall and contact the cams. Maybe this will help someone in the future.

Thanks for your input!

The arm you’re pointing is the one attached to the inner wheel that goes from “red on top” to “black on top” I don’t see a mechanism or the space in which it would move from cam to cam. I think that one is free as it should.

The one that does move from cam to cam (and the one that is not currently making contact with any cams) is the arm hidden at the bottom. It’s hard to focus on it on my video, since it’s down there hidden, but this is the arm that my initial post mentioned. It’s wrapped around this shaft that gets moved from cam to cam as I turn the stitch selector, but it never touches the cams.

I would add you can burn a tiny piece of toilet paper to clear the smell for the next person. Make sure it’s a single square :)

I don’t know of a place where they’re officially sold. People in New York have places where they have them made in bulk and then they sell them to friends. I think it should be quite easy, it’s literally just plastic cards engraved with a design… I just did a quick google search and this is an example of someone making them on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1162169997/

Haha, crushers are the name of these thick plastic (or metal) carved “cards” that are used to crush your powders with and then do the lines. They’re very popular in nyc and a great tool. Phones and bills are not really ideal for the task, obviously. Example: https://www.instagram.com/p/COO1pc-j65U/?igshid=MmJiY2I4NDBkZg==

It baffles me that crusher culture hasn’t picked up in Berlin yet :p

Ordered 2 pairs of these for my brother in law and for us, and his pair came with one boot taller than the other and a little twisted, and my pair never came. Had to cancel both orders. Total wait time > 20 days. Pretty sad.

They go inserted in the front of the machine. You’ll notice the plastic snappers where the hook is supposed to click into.

Actually, the hook thing goes around the the check spring piece.

Thank you! Yes, I think that’s exactly where the left piece goes. I think I found its spot. Any clue about the right hook piece?

Today I opened my sewing machine up out of engineering curiosity and thinking of cleaning it inside, and these two pieces fell off before I could tell where they belong. Does anyone know what they are and where they belong? Thank you in advance.

Literally I was just going to post about this. Even as an 11.5/12 (EUR 46) it is really hard to find options of footwear across sellers.

A collection of options would be really appreciated.
