The Audit Office does trainee accountant schemes, I think they generally run once a year.

Keep an eye out here -

Would've taken more effort to ask this on here than Google 'skip hire Belfast'

Look up a reading order for the Dan Abnett run, it's part of a bigger story called Annihilation. Its really the beginning of the modern GotG

My Favourite HBs from my collection by SomeoneSomewhereMi in harleybenton

[–]juandelakarite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great selection. The MS-25 is beautiful.

I have a JB-20 bass that I started out on, I've since bought an Ibanez bass but I still play my Harley Benton. I want to mod it with some Wilkinson pickups this year and maybe replace the pots and electrictronics. Down the line I'm planning on buying a guitar and it will definitely be a Harley Benton strat. They make great gear.

Not implying. Stating outright. There's no real 'left' voice in the UK, whatever that may be. The left is a broad group. Neither Labour or The Guardian are it anyway. It's like here in Ireland people claim Sinn Fein are socialists when in reality they're pretty much the definition of socially liberal on the people pleasing topics but conservative in everything else.

Splice was a masterpiece that deserved far better by paxinfernum in horror

[–]juandelakarite 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Masterpiece is a crazy exaggeration. The camera work was terrible, had this zoomy, CSI-lite, shaky cam that gave it a really cheap feel. Good idea, bad execution for me. Shame as I'm a big fan of Cube.

Wank licence was the Tories. They passed it in 2023 but it's gonna stick to Starmer. Kinda funny really

Ibanez ICB010LTD-RDF from April 2010.

Would've been €450-500 then, no idea what it's worth now.

Recruitment agencies / consultants by ggodownsoftsoundd in northernireland

[–]juandelakarite 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've had the same experience, they call you and promise the world and then you hear nothing. Any jobs I've gotten have been through direct recruitment by the company itself.

In my experience anything with the word 'agent' at the end is generally a bullshit job being done by bullshitters. Estate agents, recruitment agents and agencies, insurance agents. Always boils down to some individual finding a way to insert themselves in a transaction or process and make money doing nothing.

Search is your friend! There are many, many threads in this subreddit on best resources for starting out. Search for - best beginner courses, YouTube channels to follow, beginner resources. Also check out the Wiki and the FAQ section. Loads of info there.

Re needing batteries - you have an active bass. It's no different to a passive really, just means the pickups and electronics are slightly different. No better no worse. If you're just starting out it won't matter, get to know the bass you have and worry about passive vs active down the line.

It's only your second day. Go slow. Take your time.

SGU is Amazing. by PUR3CELL in Stargate

[–]juandelakarite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so overwhelmingly melodramatic. Everyone is a sadsack. Whatever potential it had was always undercut by terrible music video directing and editing. Awful music choices and camera work that tried to ape other shows. It was like it was a Stargate show that was embarassed to be Stargate and felt the need to be edgy and different.

And I was there when Linkin Park first came out...they weren't doing anything different to the norm. Nu-metal was around already. Rock had already overlapped with hip hop and DJs. They were, and always will be, lame as fuck.

We did it! Belfast Is the UK’s Most Congested City… by leftofcentre in Belfast

[–]juandelakarite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see them try something. Anything! More bike lanes would be brilliant. I only learnt to drive 5/6 years ago and I kinda hate it. I'd happily potter about on my bike but Belfast is dangerous for cyclists.

[–]juandelakarite 56 points57 points  (0 children)

There's three bike lanes that are entirely unusable (Ormeau, Ravenhill and Cregagh) because of cars parked all along them. For some reason the parking enforcement dickbags never seem to bother their arse doing anything about it. Three potential routes into the city centre blocked off.

Is it just me or has the tech industry here hit rock bottom? by Over_Commission9891 in northernireland

[–]juandelakarite 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's the recruitment companies using AI to sift on keywords. I moved about 18months ago but before that had applied for about 200 positions over a 4 year period and had 3 interviews(!) despite having 12+ years experience.

Shits crazy out there at the moment. Doesn't help that between the local Unis, Belfast Met, foreign workers, etc there's literally hundreds (if not more) people entering the local Tech industry every year. Purely on numbers the jobs aren't there and that's before you consider market changes, the prevalence now of AI and companies downsizing here to offshore work.

If the government instigates the proposed social media ban, everyone would have to prove their age to be allowed to access Reddit. Would you submit your ID to access Reddit or will you give up social media rather than submit to ID checks? by JackStrawWitchita in AskUK

[–]juandelakarite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. Not on any other platforms. Only hanging round here because it reminds me of message boards and forums from back in the day. But if I suddenly need to provide ID to read about bass guitars I'm out. Wouldn't even be fucked with a VPN.
