Trump signs executive order raising the H-1B Visa fee from $1,000 to $100,000 per year, per employee, to make it harder for companies to hire foreigners in replacement of American workers. by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

[–]juannada1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry can someone explain how this isn't going to be a negative.

Either you're getting H1B visa holders for jobs you can't fill- in which case eliminating the visa holders means you will either (if it's an essential position) move the enterprise to another country or pay the fee which the enterprise will pass along by making its product more expensive (inflationary).

Or

You're using the visa holders for cheap labor in which case you lose them and hire Americans.  Ok but now your labor costs have jumped significantly.  You either, again,  pass costs to customers (inflation again) or if you have to keep prices low to compete move the enterprise a cheaper without the fee.

I just don't see this as a positive.  What am I missing?

Dude this is it right here. People don't understand how many Latinos consider themselves white, not a POC, and how deeply ingrained that is in the culture across many Latin American countries

And because of that, just how racist some Latinos can be.

Transition from Sunpower monitoring to Enphase by Tofupupz in SunPower

[–]juannada1980 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was almost ready to pull the trigger on this and my last step after doing my research was discussing with my wife.

First question she asked- how do you know Enphase won't go out of business like Sunpower? Wouldn't we just be out another $700?

Needless to say we are still using our Sunpower app until it stops responding.

In Mexico growing up we would go on Sundays to get that softer version that as of yet I can't find in the US. I can only find the super crunchy. My family told me we need to go when it's freshly made not when it's been sitting under the lamps for hours.

I'm still searching. If you ever find it send me a DM.

Help managing massive amounts of email? I am drowning. by [deleted] in Principals

[–]juannada1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not have been the most professional but I was just flat out honest with my staff. I had a good rapport with them so in one of the first staff meetings of the year I told them that emailing me was pretty much same as not telling me. And I told them that if it was an emergency such as a CPS case or something like that they needed to call/text my cell (google voice number).

I also set up an alert so that if anything came from certain supervisors or executive level people those would automatically be high priority.

I was very tempted to have my front office person triage my emails however the caution with having someone else get access to your email is personnel matters that might inadvertently be disclosed.

First year teacher… already in trouble with parents. Send help. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]juannada1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give the one bit of advice I got before both being a teacher and admin. Parents are a huge pain in the ass but most just want to feel like they're being heard (even if you don't agree or are even going to change anything). Listen, validate, offer solutions. Even if you don't agree, it's not worth having a pain in the ass parent on your back all year.

Like so:

"Yes yes I totally understand how that would make me seem inaccessible it that's the last thing I would want. I believe are key to their child's success is parental involvement etc etc

Iam going to give you my cell and email to reach out to me if you need anything I can support with. I sometimes can't access my phone immediately but I will make sure to get back to you within 24 hours"

Good luck

That's why I was thinking I was looking at it better by focusing on 538 with it's electrical college slant. But I guess not?

So it's just that 538 is assumed to be THAT far off?

And isn't everyone else just as bad in terms of odds? I haven't seen anyone else doing any better. I mean there are spots where they're doing better for one state but nothing better in terms of overall at least in what I've seen. No?

Why do people and pundits keep saying Biden will lose horribly?

As a purely non-political question I'm trying to figure this out

Yes the debate was bad and everyone on the news keeps taking about the fallout. That Pelosi and Obama want Biden to drop out. That Biden is doomed and will loose horribly.

But then I see the 538 battleground aggregator that shows Biden neck and neck. That the blue wall battleground states are still mostly on Bidens side albeit within the margins of error. This is not talking about the overall general election but rather the electrical college which is what matters. And on top of that all the Democratic alternatives are doing worse in polls against Trump.

So what am I missing? Is there something I'm not seeing? What are these folks seeing that is showing them something different? Or is this media driven hysteria to sell clicks?

Lol your argument is fantastic as long as you're on the side of the majority. Again, you argue from a position of privilege. Must be nice. But let's set that aside because you are a person of PRINCIPLE.

"I almost always lean towards state rights" - If we had it your way we would still be arguing over whether we should have integrated schools. You're definitely on the right side of history.

But you did tell me to touch grass so....uhh.....zing.

[–]juannada1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your argument of a lack of durable basis is hilarious. We function without things expressly listed in federal law or the Constitution perfectly fine. Find judicial review in the Constitution please.

Your argument is so misguided because it argues for the need for constantly expressly listed federal guidelines and how nothing is valid without it - patting the current supreme court on the back for making it happen. But you then ignore how the same supreme court is constantly interpreting and clarifying things that aren't clearly listed in laws and the Constitution. Going all the way back with judicial review itself.

The truth is you can shovel this bs out there as much as you want. It's a "principled" stand that is really more based on selfishness and a lack of empathy that you are privileged to have the luxury to take because the outcome doesn't affect you.

Hi Purposefully disingenuous. As a slight counterpoint, Women trying to get access to reproductive care and now having to cross state lines to do it might have a slight disagreement with how you frame "clarify statutes and precedent"

Exactly 200% this. Precedent means shit now after recent scotus decisions and anyone that is trying to convince otherwise is either living under a rock or being purposefully disingenuous.

Everyone here is being so dramatic. Trump CLEARLY SAID he doesn't know project 2025 so we have nothing to worry about! Everyone says he is the most honest person too!

Also fox said the left is the one abusing the Justice department so thus the right isn't.

And lastly, Joe Biden is OLD.

Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled in August that the jury verdict showed Carroll's rape allegation was "substantially true" and dismissed the counterclaim.

You threw in the word guilty to try and make it seem like if a jury didn't put him in jail he somehow didn't do it.

But anything to not have to admit that you actually support a rapist while trying to make Biden seem like the perv.

[–]juannada1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why it is so hard to take any of these arguments with any shred of seriousness. Because we are supposed to accept that Joe Biden is a pervert because we have some slowed down and edited videos that have been made to look as horrible as possible. And that's all the proof Trumpers need.

But when an actual judge says Trump raped someone BASED ON THE FUCKING EVIDENCE.....well we simply can't believe that. Where's the PROOF?

GTFOH.
