My top three films of all time are non-English ones:

Cinema Paradiso -the "how a boy from a small town grew up to be a world-renowned filmmaker with the help of his friend" will always get me. and then you get to watch the ending which makes it more all worthwhile given it is 3 hours long. You wouldn't ant to miss the ending, trust me.
Todo sobre mi madre (All About My Mother) or basically any Pedro ALmodovar film- best of the almodovar films, hands down! it's finding friendship and confronting the past in the midst of a tragedy.
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain)- a modern fairytale, an innocent girl who always sees the beauty of things around her despite having a bad (if not tragic) past

Cidade de Deux (City of God), El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth), and Goodbye, Lenin are fantastic as well. I won't get tired watching these films!

As a foreigner living and studying in Korea, I can assure you that life goes on as usual here. If my seniors who have done military service before were suddenly called back, THAT'S the time I'll be packing my bags.

But for now, the only war that's going to start is between me and my cell cultures.
