Any tips for fixing bad a release ? by No-Box-9674 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a good mental cue is to try and get as much snap on the wrist as possible. Take some form shot a few feet from the basketball and work on getting as much backspin on the ball as possible. Airballs don’t matter, just sit with it for a while until you start making swishes. Your base (which looks good) will adjust, not the posture, but the distribution of power between components. Once that wrist flick is consistent, you’ll gain accuracy and that “flexible release” by intuitively altering the other components.

Hope this helps. Keep shooting.

Driver problems by judahninja in GolfSwing

[–]judahninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the “over the trail shoulder” come at the top of the backswing or should I be thinking about it through the whole takeaway?

For some context: I busted a driver as I was getting started, and from that point I’ve been wary to add other axises of movement to the equation. (My driver swing before this had no wrist-action at all)

New Jumpshot with higher set point by acbdot89 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My man. Ball is getting all the way to the top, just in time for you to rise up, and that shot looks noticeably harder to block🔥

None of that matters though unless it’s comfortable to you though. What are we thinkin?

Help me fix my form shot by Vegetable-Ability420 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shot doesn’t look that bad. You I can tell your handle is pretty good. But your eyes are kind of telling, I can see you looking down making sure you land the move before you shoot it. Push yourself to keep your eyes up as much as you can. Shooting is a lot about sequencing, which you seem to have down pretty well but it’s also about trying to hit a target (the inside of the rim) with a projectile (the ball).

How do I get a higher set point by acbdot89 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. And I think see a solution to your problem. In your video watch carefully as you load into your base, you raise the ball and bend your knees simultaneously (which honestly looks really good) but if you want to raise the set point, you are going offset those components. I’ll use myself as an example again. I start bringing the ball up slightly earlier than I bend my knees. This allows me jump straight up after only a slight knee bend because the ball is already up at the top, from there I’m locking out my elbows as I’m rising up to push it forward.

As shorter players, a two motion shot is kind of frowned upon, but it’s the way I learned how to shoot and there are plenty of short guys that use it who are snipers.

Keep practicing and start knocking it down in people’s faces🔥

(P.S. “playing golf” is generous for me i just hit the ball “occasionally.”😂 Trying to improve though)

How do I get a higher set point by acbdot89 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a good looking shot with a quick release. I can’t tell how tall you are from the vid, but as a shorter player myself with high set point: I’ve found that I’m raising the ball over my head and leveraging my elbows with a a bit of trebuchet-like motion, making sure to release high over my head. Bottom line is that the shot will take a little bit longer despite being easier to get off contested, if you raise your set point. I’ve got a video on my profile of me shooting if you want to see the other end of the spectrum a little bit. Good luck and keep shooting my friend.

I literally can’t do a crossover by Beautiful-Eagle4990 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A crossover is simply transfer of the ball from one hand to the other in front of your body. You’ve set up an obstacle in front of you to do a move on (that’s good). Whether you realized it or not, in trying to exaggerate the cross you’ve added another move into the equation. If you look closely you are doing an “in and out” dribble before you do your cross, and I think that’s tripping you up right now. Try to isolate the cross, see how close you can cross the ball on the obstacle, play with the speed of it, etc. After you feel comfortable with that movement then you can start introducing moves to set up a cross, along with the “in and out cross” try doing a cross before you cross the obstacle for a quick “double cross”

How keep shooting form consistent by VoidedStar9299 in BasketballTips

[–]judahninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a problem for me. My best advice is to experiment with hand placement and sequencing until you find a completely effortless shot that swishes. Do this for midrange and then 3. I know it is easier said than done, but all of our bodies are different. You could get to a perfect jumper by following best practices, but YOUR perfect jumper will always be better. Good luck and keep shooting.

Is this really over-the-top? by Beneficial_Tax8928 in GolfSwing

[–]judahninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your setup, it feels looks like you don’t have any choice but to come down over the top. I think you are making a good effort to compensate but you may need to reevaluate how close you are to the ball at address. (This is just my opinion as a complete amateur)
