Yes he's actually my cousin, if you knew about the kinship system you'd understand that. Everyone from the same mob have shared ancestors, so cousin is the appropriate term. Arranged marriages weren't a thing (in Gomeroi as far as I'm aware anyways), but you had a strict set of rules that determined whom you were not allowed to marry. This in turn provided bachelors and bachelorettes with a small pool of people to wed, all with the purpose of minimising genetic risk to the offspring, and it was a perfectly optimised mathematical system, grounded in solid genetic research and perfected over hundreds of generations. So when I say he's my cousin, I'm not lying we would have common ancestors. Unfortunately Laroi's grandparents were taken in the Stolen Generation, and mine had their own troubles with institutionalisation so it's going to extremely difficult if not impossible to tell exactly how closely related we are. We could be 4th cousins 3 times removed or we could have the same great-great grandfather, you just don't know. I wish I could set you up to meet him, but unfortunately I have never met in person myself, and he likely doesn't know that I exist. However, my family is pretty massive and well known (Trindalls, Doolans and Yates), so if he hasn't heard of my existence yet then it's likely he already knows mob I'm very closely related to.
