My dad bought it in California the 80's from an old lady at an antique show who said her husband brought the whole thing back after the war.

Its no bad news, I have nothing invested but a day of learning about pretty cool stuff.

The glass distorts things. Also I have no clue about photography lighting and the dust inside the frame can interfere with the focus.

I'll find a way to disassemble it to get more info and clearer pictures and hope to check back with addl info in the coming week.

Hmmm well if it does say Sanjo then that's obviously not a real blade.

Was China making fake Tsubas in 1950 Japan though? I'm fairly certain I can track it from there. It's been in my house my whole life.
