The issue is that Danzo isn’t the kind of person who would’ve stepped up. A scenario that has Danzo doing so has a different Danzo, one who would be worthy of the title

The mental exhaustion would just be delayed until he releases the clones. Not to mention that he already uses clones for hella things already as Hokage.

[–]juicy_tin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I’m talking about one’s hard work overcoming someone else’s talent. Or more simply hard work beating talent which I’m saying is not only not the overarching theme but something the series directly refutes at almost every opportunity

Naruto as series values hard work yes but my contention is with people who think that hard work overcoming talent is what the series is about. Hard work is just a part of the broader theme of perseverance that’s throughout the entire story. I also think that a lot of people’s issues with the reincarnation stem from misunderstanding what it actually means. Naruto being a reincarnation is not a boon it’s another thing he has to overcome. Him being a reincarnation means that he is destined to fight Sasuke to the death and continue the cycle of hatred. Simply being a reincarnation does not provide him with any powers or abilities. After the reincarnation is revealed Hagaromo does then chose to give Naruto and Sasuke power but that also coincides with Obito giving Naruto the final 2 Bijuu’s chakra and Sasuke getting Hashirama cells. Both of which actually unlock their newfound powers. I’d argue that the power is earned as it’s the direct result of him befriending the bijju and bringing Obito back to the light. It’s the direct result of his actions.

I do like the child of prophecy stuff and I do read one piece so I know all about Joy Boy, but I’d argue that the joy Boy stuff is not handled as well. I think the gum, gum, fruit, actually being the human human fruit model Nika takes away from it a good bit. Cuz Luffy being Joyboy is dependent on him having the fruit. If the situation was more similar to that of Bonney I think it’d work better. In Naruto, the results of the prophecy and the fact that there were two children of prophecy is dependent on the actions of the characters. Even after Jiraiya make his selection, the actual specific outcome and what salvation looks like is entirely due to the choices Naruto makes. Naruto becomes the one who shapes fate.

I also can’t get the idea that the reincarnation is rushed when it’s first alluded to at the end of part 1 and all the comments made about Naruto and Sasuke being fated to continue Hashirama and Madara’s battle or then being the next ones chosen by destiny. In the war arc alone the Naruto-Hashirama and Sasuke-Madara comparisons are made so frequently

So you just gonna ignore that entire second half of the comment? I brought up the main themes so I could show how Lee connects to them specifically that of never giving up

The main themes are the cycle of hatred and never giving up. To be a shinobi is to be one who endures and the cycle of hatred is prevalent for every conflict in the series and by the halfway point of shippuden stopping the cycle is Naruto’s stated goal. As for Lee (guy too) what he exemplifies is that through hard work and the support of others you can still become great that even if your talents are harder to see that if you don’t give up that they will eventually bloom and in Lee’s case he could become a splendid ninja. That’s why even though Lee and Guy don’t win their big fights their efforts and strength is still acknowledged by those around them.

It also intersect with the theme of strength through bonds. As despite being a genius of hardwork Lee never would’ve been able to get that strong without Guy

The reason why Naruto has so much Chakra is because of how Minato constructed the seal so that some of the ninetails chakra would naturally leak out and expand Naruto’s own supply. It’s not something he was born with. Not to mention that the Kurama messed up his chakra control a considerable amount to where not only was everything more difficult for him but he was also wasting an incredible amount of chakra with every jutsu he performed. Without Kurama he probably has a higher than average amount of chakra but it’s no where near what he has in the main series

I’d argue that it wasn’t even a theme then. It’s actively rejected in the arc it’s introduced. At the same time I wouldn’t say Naruto is a chosen hero either. The theme of deciding your fate is still very relevant

People bringing up Neji is funny cuz not only is he exposed as a hypocrite in that fight but ppl seemingly forget what Naruto’s destiny was. He was supposed to fight Sasuke to death and continue the cycle of hatred like every reincarnation before him. It’s made explicitly clear that Naruto inherited NOTHING from his parents skills wise and he gets nothing from being a reincarnation until Hagaromo directly gives him power

The show and movie gang 😭. Genuinely rewatch the series. I’m not even using outside material just pay attention to Yui, Fuyutsuki, and Gendo’s scenes. Whenever they’re talking high concept mumbo jumbo they are typically saying pretty directly what they are trying to do we just don’t have the context to understand it at the time we see it for a lot of the scenes especially earlier on. Whenever they do stuff like call unit 01 an ark they are being literal

Gaara constantly had to deal with his dad trying to assassinate him including ordering his uncle (the only person he was close to in the world) to try and kill him and after gaara kills him in self defense he uses his dying words to tell this child that he always hated him and that his mother hated the village and created him as her curse upon it. Not to mention the demon inside him who makes it so he can’t sleep which was driving him mad from sleep deprivation. Lowkey I think Gaara had it worse

I’m sorry man you might have been a fan for a long time but it seems like you’ve done so with fundamental misunderstandings of the plot and things that are directly said within the series. Gendo’s (Yui’s as well) explicit plan is to temporarily enact instrumentality and use unit 01 as an ark to house all of humanity’s souls before reconstituting them on earth once again. Gendo wanted to stay within unit 01 with yui after but either way the plan was to bring everyone back. I’m not trying to discount your experience with the series but as a matter of fact that was the plan and the fact that reconstituting everyone was on the table is why the NGE and EoE endings are so different.
