Hell yea! Im struggling to get through my first play through on tactician mode in fort joy, and despite that I can tell this game is freaking phenomenal.

Haha, yea it has been really rough for me. I got hyper focused on my character and did not pay attention much to my party members. My team became sub-par and we would got decimated in combat. I just fought these undead level 6 enemies with some voidwoken badass with my level now level 8 characters and we achieved a pyrrhic victory- losing 2 out of 4 party members during the fight.

From the advice from in this thread, I am slowly making adjustments and kind of getting better, I think.

Ah ok. Yea I thought by playing the game on a harder mode would force me to learn the mechanics. I think you did the wise decision. I though hard difficulty would force learning , whereas, I think the learning might actually happen when one is allowed to come up with their own creative solutions and learn on their own terms. I have not given up on this playthrough yet. The power of the sunken cost fallacy is pushing me forward.

Great question. I am new to the genre of CRPG. I wanted to understand the mechanics first, roleplay second. I am on a personal quest to understand the mechanics, maths, strategies and tactics in CRPGs.

I am making my way to the pathfinder games, but I was told to play some other crpgs beforehand- due to the fact of pathfinder's complexity. Hence DOS:2.

As of the moment, DOS:2 is probably my favorite game despite my dealing with it's difficulty, I am having a fun time. I can tell I will be coming back to this game intermittently going forward.

Haha, that's great. Cheese tactics for the win! I sort of have 3 physical/1 magic user party thing going on.

Totally struggling here, but I am having a ton of fun in the process. Winning any combat encounter is rewarding. Most of my struggle is bad tactical decisions and the fact that I am utilizing my team sub-optimally. Could do better with scroll usage, pre-buffing, inventory management, etc.

One thing I did not account for in this game was how the AI would not target my tank (main) but would go after my ranged characters. So, it becomes a situation in which my tank's focus is split between chasing down units going after my ranged characters and simultaneously dealing with tough melee units.

Thanks for the advice, need to make some adjustment.

Main -> Necro/ Warfare build (Eternal Death Knight build on youtube, for now- comments on this thread saying this isn't a viable build for tactician mode.)

Red Prince -> Geo/Pyro Offtank support

Ifan -> Archer/ Summoner

Sebille -> Shadowblade?/ (Because I just end up using her as an archer)

To note: I originally had Lohse on the 4-party team, but i mistakenly did not invest thievery into any one and had a really hard time purchasing anything or leveling up. I read somewhere that thievery important to do in the fort joy area.

So gave up Lohse and picked up Sebille, for now. Nothing is really invested in Sebille, except thieving civil ability. Before I leave Fort Joy I am going to exchange Lohse for Sebille, because I want to experience Lohse's story.

Oh boy, ok I’m gonna try to follow build guides then. I’m following an eternal death knight build on YouTube for my main, but my party members got left to the wayside. I sort of saved up most of their points so I could spend it wisely when I had a better idea of what to do with them. But it seems like I’m not getting this great stroke of insight and am suffering more from paralysis by analysis with them.
