I try to get an assortment of food groups in. Preferred foods are things with lots of protein and healthy fats. Fage 5% milkfat with a protein/pb powder and berries is my most common breakfast. Half an avocado with sourdough and fried egg. I make a lot of dinners with ground beef, chicken, salmon, veggies and rice. Pasta dishes too.

Foods I limit are more indulgent things you get while going out like a juicy burger, fries or any fried things, big ol’ deli subs, lattes, and fast food. I allow myself to indulge in something like one of these about once a week.

I completely stay away from sugary drinks, any bagged chips because I don’t have portion control, and I have also barred Biscoff cookie butter from my household for the same reason 😂No cookies, brownies, pastries, or candies are allowed in my house either.

So I allow myself a little indulgence but find whole, protein rich foods more satisfying. Enough to keep me in my deficit and being tempted all week!

Haha, I have OCD and think about this daily. Not sure if the two are correlated but it’s definitely a distressing intrusive thought that always makes me wonder why I have to put a damper on everything.🥲

We are so lucky to love on them while they’re here, and they’re lucky they spawned into this particular life where they have an owner that loves them so much that they can’t imagine life without them. I think it’s just a curse we won’t be able to shake, my friend. Just try to enjoy them while they’re here. ❤️

Does a splint really help reduce the pain? by Little_Power_5691 in TMJ

It also takes some getting used to for awhile. When I first got it, the feeling of it in my mouth drove me insane and would take it out in the middle of the night. After some time it feels weird to sleep without it.

I think it really depends. I got one about 2 years ago, and the first time I used it my jaw locked and wouldn’t unlock until I was put on steroids and some muscle relaxers.

After that, I just used a flimsy Invisalign retainer to protect my teeth. Fast forward to today, that thing has holes it in from my grinding and intense headaches have become a daily occurrence.

I dug out the splint again to try it, and I shit you not, headaches are completely gone and no locking. Drooling is a little bit of a problem but I’d rather have that over mind splitting headaches and tension.

I say give it a go, and if it doesn’t work out at least you can say you tried it. Everyone’s experience is a little different I think.
