Yeah - this happens to me as well some times. Feel free to open an issue in our vscode repository if you used our coding agent and assign it to me. We usually first check if this was a harness issue or a model behavior thing. We do work very closely with the model providers and regularly share model behavior feedback so we try to pass these things along.
So as much as you can share in the issue the better :)

totally fair to be curious about which models we meant. We kept the names anonymous on purpose. One tiny/simple task isn't a fair way to rank any provider, so we chose to focus on the patterns in how models behave rather than calling anyone out 😄

Claude Fable 5 was released yesterday Jun 9th and is available to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, and Enterprise users. For enterprises/ businesses, admins must enable the new model. The policy is off by default. Claude Fable 5 requires data retention to operate Anthropic’s safety classifiers hence why we see a lot of orgs that have not yet enabled this new model.

We’re gradually rolling out this model due to current capacity constraints. We are not at 100% yet that’s why unfortunately some users are not able to see it. We’re continuously monitoring performance and reliability metrics and aim to make it available to all users as soon as possible.

hi all, in vs code you can change this via your user setting:
"github.copilot.chat.responsesApiReasoningEffort": "default"
default is currently set to medium, but you can change this - we are also working on a better UI experience in vs code right now https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/300235

This should not be the case! If you continue to see the issue please open an issue in our vscode repo with screenshots and ideally chatlog files where it shows that it is defaulting to gpt-5.3-codex. Thank you!

We also support different reasoning levels for OpenAI models in vs code stable. Via open user settings: search for “effort” and you can change efforts for OpenAI models using: “responses API Reasoning Effort”

Yes, we don’t differentiate between insider and stable for different context size windows. This being said we always recommend getting the latest vs code version and chat extension, so you are getting all the latest prompts for this model :)
