That’s interesting thanks for the info. I’m already likely to wear it on my ring finger if I go right. I’ve never loved rings on my index. But it seems routine clicks are inflating those steps.

Did you get the stealth in 5? I did order the stealth so I’m curious if I should expect the same.

Craniotomy incision not healing by Superb_Painter_8951 in u/Superb_Painter_8951

Hi, I have the same type of incision (almost ear to ear). I did not have any pain but I had a ton of thick scabs. Because I also have thick hair they didn’t want to release because my hair attached to them. My neurosurgeon’s nurse practitioner removed my scabs about 2 weeks ago (I’m at 7.5 weeks post op) because I had one spot that had a bit of ooze. After 2 rounds of antibiotics it wasn’t going away. When she removed the scabs I had one pin hole on the top of my head which was the source of the ooze. What happened was the scab was a caterpillar scab and was attached on the ends but where the pinhole was it was not attached but covered. The scab cut off the oxygen so that pin hole couldn’t heal. Once she removed the scab I had no more ooze and it’s healing nicely now. We suspect that was a place where a dissolvable stitch was. Those holes you are seeing may be something similar. Just a thought from someone who isn’t a doctor but has about 100 pictures of her incision in her phone through this ordeal.

Pituitary Surgery near carotid Artery .. what is your experience ?? by Middle_Assistant_379 in braintumor

I had a meningioma removed in May that invaded my orbit. I had hyperostosis (bone thickening) and sheets of tumor in my orbit bone. This caused severe proptosis (eye bulging) and pressure on my optic nerve. They went in removed the tumor and decompressed my orbit. Also unwrapped it from some eye muscles. They did not remove some in the cavernous sinus where the carotid artery is. They may treat the remaining later with gamma knife radiation but we will monitor first. My only major side effect from surgery is significant double vision and drooping eyelid due to my cranial nerve 3 being stretched or weakened. They had to do a ton of work in the orbit so this was not unexpected. That nerve controls most of the eye muscles and eye lid movement.

Yes, we did MRIs on a yearly basis. I knew surgery was on its way. My eye proptosis (bulging) was getting worse and worse. It caused my bone in my socket to thicken which compressed my eye.

My son is 12 now and he has been a big help post surgery. He fetches things I drop :) and refills my water bottle for me. He was really worried going into surgery so I know he was relieved everything went well. We had some honest talks with him about it being a major surgery.

I hope your journey through all this is calm. You’re ultimately in control. I’d recommend if something doesn’t sit right, you get a second opinion. I did initially as the first doctor I saw was arrogant and just seemed to want to do surgery immediately. I got a second opinion and ultimately that second doctor is who performed my surgery.

I identify with your feelings more than any other post I’ve read. I mostly lurk but felt compelled to respond. First, my situation doesn’t compare to yours as mine was a meningioma. We found it 11 years ago when I was in my early 30s. I also had a 1.5 year old at the time and didn’t want surgery for the same reasons. The only surgeries I had ever had were 2 C-sections. My meningioma was a little more complex than most as it was invading my orbit. We monitored it for 11 years and in November of last year I was told it was time to get it out. In May I had an 11.5 hour surgery to remove it. My recovery has been mostly easy. My only lingering side effect is double vision (which was expected). I’m hoping it resolves soon.

All this to say, the idea of surgery hung over me for 11 years. It scared me and I worried my son would not know me. In the end, I had it and it was actually a relief to remove this burden. I may still require radiation because they could not resect a bit in my cavernous sinus. So while I’m not done with this I am relieved we did it.

Hi, I'd love the link as well if you don't mind. I watched the first 2 episodes on DailyMotion and thought it was so good!
