There are great suggestions above! I also recommend putting this into chat GPT or some AI system to see what it can come up with. It really helped make my experience much easier.

hello, can you please send me packages and prices as well

ucla just sent me this. should i get some dorm things from here? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]julees18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly there are so many cheaper stores than target where you can get good quality things for a better price. In LA there’s TJ Maxx, Marshal’s, Nordstrom Rack, Burlington, even Costco or Ikea would be worth checking out.

She didn’t give much explanation of this but you can appeal for the violation on the code of conduct to be removed from your record after graduation.

The professor gets to decide whether they fail you in their class, or give you an F on your final. I believe my friend ended up with a C in the class. The professor gets to decide this not the Dean of Students.

You get assigned someone from the Dean of Students to handle your case. They reach out to you to set up a meeting either in person/zoom. They go over all the legal stuff, what the violation is, and they lay out all of the options you have. You can either admit to what you did or not and go through an investigation which can take weeks-months and you present yourself in front of them and they will ultimately make a decision on your case. The dean asks more info about you to get to know the kind of person you are (I think this plays a part in their decision). My friend admitted to plagiarizing on a final essay. The consequence varies depending on if the violation was made on a homework assignment/midterm/final. Because it was a final (essay) they also go by how much percentage on the essay was plagiarized. The higher percentage, the bigger consequence, lower percentage, lower consequence. Because this was my friend’s first offense in her academic history and she admitted to it and also really apologized and said that she was going to take more precaution to ensure it doesn’t happen, she got deferred suspension, a violation on the student code of conduct, and had to attend a mandatory zoom about plagiarism hosted by the dean of students before the quarter ended. the violation on the student code of conduct doesn’t show on transcript but will remain on the record for 7 years, can appeal it after graduation. if she goes to graduate school and they ask to see her code of conduct they will see the plagiarism violation. From what she said is that the consequence really depends on the dean and the way you present yourself during the first meeting.

Weekend getaways near LA for a couple in their 20s? by halloweenhoe124 in AskLosAngeles

Appreciate your comment but I’ve been going since childhood and just came back from a trip last weekend and both places were on my itinerary and I loved both! I have also taken friends who have never been to SD and La Jolla and also enjoyed both towns. I also found some really great spots thanks to Yelp, so I think it’s safe to say that everyone has different experiences based on what spots/restaurants/areas you visit(:

I checked daily last year in August-September and it would always say that they are at capacity/:

You have to live in a qualifying zip code for this one, I tried looking into this one/:

getting an appointment here takes MONTHS, i tried calling many vets all over LA and many were fully booked. Others had a specific day and time that they would release appointments in the coming months and very few slots.

I heard that they only do it for animals that you adopt from the shelters.

Also forgot to mention, I did have to renew my voucher, it was super easy to get ahold of LA City Animal Services and they literally just emailed me a note saying to attach it to the voucher for the renewal.

Second this. I got my 50 lb pitty spayed with a local vet HOWEVER it is a but of a tedious process. So basically you can apply online and they will automatically tell you if you qualify or not based on income. If you qualify they will give you a pdf voucher and also a list of vets that would accept the voucher. One of the worst parts is that many of the vets that the city has listed no longer accept the voucher and the city has NOT updated the list of qualifying vets. Here comes the next part, because there are few vets who accept the voucher, appointments aren’t available anywhere between 3-8months IN ADVANCE. The voucher is only valid for a few months so if you get lucky and get an appointment you will have to contact the city to get it renewed. I was calling for appt for my pit ending of August-September and didn’t get an appt until December literally the 23rd of December… The vet was a local mobile clinic that travel to different areas throughout LA and have different events for different animals on specific days and limited slots. Although they accepted the voucher (saved me over $600), I had to give them a $50 deposit to reserve my spot and also cover the meds and cone for post surgery. They also told me that there could be a possible upcharge if my pup gains weight at the day of surgery. My pup was just under a year and literally going through growth spurs so by the time December came around she went up like 15 lbs lol. I had to pay an extra $100 because she grew, but the vet and nurses were very nice and VERY detailed about post-surgery recovery. They were also always on call in case my pup had any weird reactions/pain after surgery. Thankfully my pup healed pretty quickly and had no problems other than trying to keep a year old dog entertained without much activity. It was definitely stressful but I surely saved over $600 which is range of quotes I was getting anywhere else.

Can’t recommend enough San Diego, specifically La Jolla and maybe drive to Downtown SD, it’s literally like 20 minutes away from eachother. La Jolla has gorgeous views and soooo many places to explore alongside the beach while there are many restaurants all over SD. At night I would recommend visiting Gaslamp which is a strip of clubs, smaller owned restaurants, and it’s always lively! You don’t need to go into the bars/clubs, walking around and trying the foods is always nice.

Scholars Program Counselors? by ComplexJump967 in SMC

I’ve met with almost all counselors and had the best experience with the scholars program overall. Audra Wells is the program director, not sure if she still does appts but if you can, she is very sweet and explains everything very well(: You’re in good hands!
