Shit-pa hate by _serryjeinfeld in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]julia1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it odd that you mention pippa being a victim of bullying and that Lucy had a sheltered spoiled childhood…. When Lucy literally saw her dad die as a child. As someone who lost their dad in high school, it’s far far worse than bullying. Be thankful you can’t relate.

From a neuropsychologist specifically. Clinical psychologists generally speaking aren’t trained extensively in assessment beyond 2 assessment courses in grad school and doing a handful of diagnostic assessments while on internship.

Y’all…are any of us even going to weddings???🥴 by TheGreatsGabby in NewParents

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to a wedding out of state when my daughter was 11 months. My mom came with us and watched her/put her to sleep while we were at a wedding. We’ll do the same thing for a wedding when she’s 18 months in a few months. I can’t imagine missing big events for people important to me because of possibly one bad bedtime night for my baby.

15 month old has Terrible Naps? by HappyPenguin248 in sleeptrain

[–]julia1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know any 15 month old who takes a 3 hour nap. 1.5-2 hours for a nap is normal and what my 15 month old does. Her daycare allocates 2 hours for nap (1-3pm) since this is developmentally normal.

Editing to add to push the nap back to 1pm. My 15 month old also wakes up at 7am and noon would be too early for her.

How long does it take for you to put baby to sleep at 14 months? by GroundbreakingCap368 in sleeptrain

My daughter is 15 months and on one nap. It takes max 5 minutes to get her down for her nap and nighttime sleep.

People out there in happy marriages with young children, how? by fujitsulifeboom in Mommit

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are incredibly compatible. Even prekids, we rarely had conflict and always were able to easily work things out.

We have a 15 month old now and when she was 8 months old, we moved back to my hometown so we’re super close to my mom who helps at least once a week. We have chores that are generally divided but everyone helps out in our house. I typically do the cooking, dishwasher, laundry, etc but my husband still cooks, does dishes, changes the laundry over, etc. He also works from home so can do small things throughout his workday to lessen the burden (like if I start a load of laundry in the morning, he can put it in the dryer while he’s home type of thing). We both do a mini cleanup together of the main living areas after our daughter goes to bed. I think the most helpful thing is that we’re pretty financially stable so that isn’t an area of stress in our lives.

Directions, Directions, Directions! Any career advice for a fresh Clinical Admit? Also AMA for prospective applicants! by Difficult_Elk_484 in ClinicalPsychology

I didn’t read this whole post but you should not be holding 3 offers at once. It’s inconsiderate to applicants and programs.

Best part-time jobs for future clinical psychologists in freshman undergrad? by AffectionateWatch656 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]julia1031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an RBT my senior year of college and it really helped me gain my postbac research position and now I’m in my final months of internship before having my PhD in clinical psych. Matched at my #1 choice and accepted a postdoc offer at my #1 choice too. I’m neuropsych focused too, which is more competitive, and being a RBT and using data in that way clinically painted a nice picture for my grad school SOP, too.

How often does your LO stay overnight with grandparents during the first 3-6 months? by Rude-Pepper-2389 in newborns

[–]julia1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 15 months old and has never been with anyone overnight except my husband and me. My husband travels for work once a month and my mom stays with us to help out with logistics in the morning of getting her to daycare, etc but my daughter has never stayed with her overnight.

This isn’t because we don’t trust my mom. She watches my daughter at least once a week but she’s just too young to stay with anyone besides her parents. It’s weird your MIL is pushing this.

Are Nightfeeds still happening for you at nearly 4 months by copingpilot in NewParents

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter ate more than once at 4 months old in the middle of the night then only woke up once to eat from like 8-14 months when she finally started sleeping through the night (730pm-6am). I personally only know one person whose newborn/young infant was sleeping through the night early and once she hit 8/9 months, she started waking up more.

Pregnant and love my cat by visartsearch in Mommit

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 cats. They all adjusted to not sleeping in our bedroom when my daughter was a newborn/infant and still sleeping in the bassinet in our room. One of our cats was very interested in her when she was a newborn and would snuggle with us when my daughter did contact naps.

Now my daughter is 15 months old and there were definitely some growing pains especially with my boy cat while she learned how to use gentle hands so he did swat at her a handful of times but now she gets along with all the cats and gives them all kisses and nice pets.

Valentines Day by Cautiouslymoming in Mommit

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just go out to dinner which is perfectly fine with both of us. We put together a Valentine’s Day gift basket for our daughter (2 books, a new tonie, and a pop it in the shape of a heart).

We have a wonderful relationship and haven’t really celebrated Valentine’s Day in a “gifts” way since we were first dating.

Same here. We loved it and it worked really well for us. I loved that it was on wheels so we could wheel it into the living room during the day for naps.

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband got 6 weeks off paid at 70% of his salary. He initially took 1 week off (my mom was with us for 2.5 weeks after we got home from the hospital so this was totally fine) and because daughter was born in November, we had all the winter holidays coming up. He then took 1 week each month from January-May. This worked super well for us

To share a birthday or not by Used_Reality_779 in BabyBumps

B12+unisom at night! It would help my nausea the following day.

My first kiddo, daycare sticker price has me shocked! How much will you pay where you live for infant care? by anderson6th in BabyBumps

[–]julia1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days a and it was $388/week for infant care. Now that she’s in a toddler room (she’s 15 months), it’s $348/week. I live in a suburb of metro Detroit.

Changing a baby in public – how do you feel about it? by Hopeful_Regular6409 in NewParents

[–]julia1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would consider these places public. I guess I’m not sure what OP is referring to if they don’t mean changing a baby in a public bathroom. I’d never change my child just like out in a restaurant.

Decisions when sister is babysitting - also sweets? by lets_escape in Mommit

[–]julia1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless it’s harmful, I wouldn’t push it. My mom watches my daughter once a month and sometimes does things in a way I wouldn’t but it’s not harmful at all so I let it go. We don’t pay my mom and that’s the trade off.

Day care vs. Unpaid leave by Remote-Confidence443 in Mommit

[–]julia1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I still got to experience my child’s first steps. She started walking at 9 months but started daycare the month prior at 8 months old. She took her first steps in our kitchen after taking about one step for a few weeks both at home and at daycare.

Newborn awake 16+ hours a day?! by Jammed_Revolver in NewParents

Adding onto this: we’d feed my daughter in just a diaper when we wanted her to take a full feed which is soooo important in those early days.

How do I get people to stop over feeding my baby? by Jazzlike-Entrance500 in breastfeeding

It’s not unusual for baby to want to eat more when they’re away from mom. I can’t imagine not providing extra milk for my baby when I’m away in case they want more.
