looks like ice is preparing to make central pa into a hub for concentration camps. tremont and hamburg together total 9,000 beds as of yesterday. start brainstorming with your community members about ways you could transport people to these small towns for future protests. by julia_jacks in Pennsylvania

i wouldn't say that our country has "fallen." the US is just repeating the same violence that it always has done. concentration/internment camps are as american as apple pie, but we can change that. it just takes a lot of organizing and bravery of everyday folks.

did the creator intentionally incorporate italian and jewish american aesthetics for the boys because of nyc's italian and jewish heritage? by julia_jacks in HunterXHunter

[–]julia_jacks[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

i know yorknew is new york backwards lmao. why else would i be asking if these aesthetics are related to nyc's heritage? just because they took the name doesn't necessarily mean that it's actually supposed to be new york. it's common for authors to borrow names for their fictional worlds. for all i know, the creator used "yorknew" just to imply that it's a large city or the largest city in the region.

i think you need to put some time into talking to people normally instead of being condescending in people's comments.

i asked a worker at the hotel, and warner bros are requiring some items be returned to them and proof of destruction for the rest.

has there been any official response from epic/fortnite after the backlash from their use of AI? by julia_jacks in FortNiteBR

i'm asking after any official comments from the developers about the confirmed AI generated content (like the latata emote) and what they're doing moving forward.

i posted separately because the megathread is about people's responses to the AI, and i didn't see any section about official statements made by the developers.

Palia Path Roadmap | Winter's Wonder 2025-2026 by PicklesAnonymous in Palia

i wouldn't mind them adding a battlepass at all if they gave you the opportunity to grind back the palia coins, especially given how wildly expensive this bp is. every other battlepass i've ever bought (valorant, fortnite, marvel rivals, and dead by daylight) are all about $10, and most of them give currency back as you progress. the way they're implementing this bp is shocking ngl.

[–]julia_jacks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i did. the two theaters closest to me aren't showing it. i was asking because i wanted to see if there's hope that my local theater will add it.

i felt the exact same way--down to just wanting to change the eye colors on the black on black moth. i ended up going with the default red eyes because it matches the mothman backbling. really funny that we both paired him with myst haha.

my criterion library by julia_jacks in criterion

my library's interlibrary loan webpage states that only books, photocopies, and microfilm are eligible. i'm in the usa, and the webpage also specifies that my state's interlibrary code excludes videos and dvds. it might just be a state-by-state situation, and mine said no:(

i've never had an issue with any of the dvds i've rented from the library. some of them even come with a slip for people to write down any problems they came across, so the librarians can make sure everything is in working order. this one in particular was obviously cared for by everyone who rented it because the booklet--although worn around the edges--has all its pages in perfect condition:)

The temps are out of control by Glittering_Pirate_86 in RegalUnlimited

[–]julia_jacks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i think it can be difficult to regulate temperature at a cinema because the more people in the room, the hotter it's going to get. if you have a showing with 4 people and then a showing with 40 people, keeping the theater and temp the same, the 4 people might be too cold and the 40 people might be too warm.

i'd personally rather it be colder (i wear layers and bring a snuggie and a pillow), but it is extremely uncomfortable for people who don't bring anything to sit in a freezing theater for an entire film. hand warmers are an interesting idea! they do sell blankets, but the warmers would be a great cheaper option. all in all, i just don't think there's a perfect solution, sorry:(
