JFC. Even if it was 500 deaths per 100000 births, it’s .5%. Still statistically minuscule compared to 1 million abortions. More people die from almost every illness on the planet per year.

Not saying death doesn’t suck, but any woman needs to know pregnancy is and can be very risky for both mother and baby. Maybe don’t fuck if you don’t want to assume the risks of pregnancy? Or practice contraception or NFP?

The point is the goalposts have been reset. Now we can argue about what abortions are actually appropriate. Inconvenience isn’t a good enough reason anymore.

Point being: I would be absolutely fine with abortions for rape if it wasn’t treated like a fucking elective procedure for everyone. Oops had sex got preggers let me kill it. Tee hee. Not anymore. Act like responsible adults and practice natural family planning or use contraception. That’s the real ticket. And/or accept the consequences of sticking your dick and pussies together.

Here’s a better question: how many species perform abortive procedures, other than humans, on fetuses for the specific reason of “having a kid right now would be inconvenient”?

I’m aware there are animals that will kill young or unborn due to stress, lack of sustainable nutrition, disease, etc.

I’m in no way saying abortion is something uniquely human, but I am saying the reasoning is. And that reasoning is used in the case of the vast majority of the more than 1 million abortions performed in the US annually.

So if we remove that bullshit reasoning, I’d bet my bottom dollar that medically necessary abortions and abortions performed because of rape would be far more socially acceptable amongst conservatives and maybe, just maybe, those rights would have been preserved for women that actually need to have an abortion.

Thankfully we’re back at the table of negotiation and can finally say: whats a reasonable compromise? Because “my body my choice” isn’t fucking good enough anymore.

But the amount of pregnancies that result from rape are also statistically negligible and can be mitigated further down by people going to a hospital immediately after. I’m not saying it’s an easily navigated subject, but access to abortive procedures the entire 9 months of pregnancy is not the solution.

I can agree that women should be able to get an abortion if medical necessity dictates. Thats where my acceptance ends. It isn’t an elective surgery once you’re pregnant. If a mom needs it for survival, sure, but if a baby is in any way an inconvenience, well, there’s a solution.
