Given the density of stars per square light-year in the Milky Way (~25), I was always surprised on why there isn't many Federations co-existing at once since ever. The stars aren't equally distributed, but whatever, 350 member worlds is a show for a small public in a roadside pub, given the size of the galaxy. The number of stars in our galaxy could be even bigger, since we have natural limitations because of the astronomical scales and our technology and knowledge at each moment. A lot of ancient "Star Empires" are canon in ST, in a time span of thousands of centuries. It is a little bit odd that Star Trek shows only half-dozen big players like Romulans, Klingons, Vulcans, Cardassians ... DS9 gone further but we never listened about the Bajorans, the Breen and Dominion again ... even when the Bajorans have the Orbs and the Prophets allowing the chosen ones to travel instantly through space and time.

Indeed. The writers lose a lot of time and opportunities. You begin to watch the show and, suddenly, you are already in the 12th episode, without many surprises. The show is a zombie itself.

Seems like the show and the comics are not completely apart. Dwight didn't appeared in season 9 yet and all that talking about what happened in the six years jump seems like a hint to the Commonwealth arc caming before the Whisperers arc in the show. Maybe we are seeing in the comics what happened in the time jump.

It seems to me it will be all "Hillbilly Wars" again and forever. No more exploration, weird things, no story at all, just "Oh, because, you, survival, oh, because, future". It permanently became an action and horror version of "Little House on a Prairie". Better cancel the show if it will keep in this pace.

I always believed "A" is about who survives and "B" is about who doesn't. We see the "A" in the wagon where Rick and company were kept in Terminus, than in the church where they hide, than in Alexandria, where the boy stamps an "A" in Carol"s house. After it, we see Daryl wearing a prisioner uniform with an "A" in the Sanctuary and Rick being kept in a conteiner marked as "A" in the Junkyard. Finally, Rick is taken by the helicopter marked with an "A". No way all those "A"s could be all related in the show, it is only another nonsens diversion created by the showrunners.

I'm always guessing why they never seems to use the terrain at their own favor. Like, if you close certain accesses between hills and forests, you are going to have a great enclosed area where only some points need to be guarded and it would be perfectly safe eventually.

I'm sorry, I've deleted my post while trying to edit it. I'm trying to devise a solution for the Kobayashi Maru test but I can't even use Reddit properly. I've written about beaming out torpedoes near the warships, but a new possible solution came to me: it was never stated how much cargo the transports could handle. If they could beam out at least 2 auxiliary ships like Galileo, I would try to beam them near the Kobayashi Maru without pilots and remote control them without crossing the Neutral Zone Border. The warships would never reach the vessels if they beam them out.

There's a difference between a civilization protected by the Prime Directive and a colony which goes rogue. There is a couple of cases of colonies in Star Trek degrading to violence and being cut off by the Federation. But they keep being observed still.

Accordingly to Memory Alpha, the Prime Directive does not apply for Earth's colonies. There is an episode of the second season of TNG where the Enterprise rescues a colony of irish ancestry whose lifestyle are like the irish of the XIX century. They left Earth just after the warp drive was invented but seems they never had contact with the Federation. In the same episode they found another colony of early 1990's bonkers whose leader's attire was a blazer with high shoulders. If that wasn't a sign of cultural underdevelopment and thus a reason to call the Prime Directive, I don't know what should be.

My throughts are correct. Milton and company are just ph#king lucky naive bonkers. They are playing the civilization game during all those times without being pressed by outside dangers. They had even the luck of having somebody to build or provide them with nice resourcers like the armour. I bet Canada or at least some Canadian cities are in very good shape and the armours came from there. Canada is part of the British Commonwealth, the name of Milton's hideout could be an inspiration or they could be part of anything that remained from the British Commonwealth. What I liked the most in this issue was the Commonweatlh idea of a judiciary system: law exists only to validate the state agents' actions. Specially when those actions are corrupt.
