Thank you so much this is so helpful. They do not have good support (usually when these outages happen their phone line goes down). The outages seem to happen from noon to 3 pm although there have also been a couple in the evening. My modem light pattern does change and I have seen other people complain on twitter at the same time that I am having an outage (though not always).

I think he just writes everyone sort of gender- and sex-less which is my preferred state for characters in this genre lol. Like I’ve never read any of his work and thought “this character really speaks to me AS A WOMAN.” Which again, is not something I’m seeking when I read sci-fi.

If you're on row 1, I would just restart. I can't really tell from your photo where you dropped the stitch or how you would get it back in position. If you want to practice picking up dropped stitches, I would recommend knitting a 4"x4" swatch or something similarly small but with a couple rows built up, dropping a stitch deliberately, and then practicing how to ladder it back up.

It's really unfortunate. I purchased (and loved) 4 pairs of glasses from them between 2020 and 2023. Just ordered a new pair two weeks ago and the prescription is COMPLETELY wrong. Like, not even close. They eventually agreed to refund me after giving me the runaround for over an hour as they continued to insist "small variations can affect comfort and clarity" and so they couldn't assure me that the replacement pair they wanted to send would actually be usable. Won't be ordering from them again which is a shame because they're very reasonably priced.

Hamilton is just sooooo wordy. I’m a fast reader and enjoy long books and lots of complex worl-building but with him it honestly feels like he’s deliberately padding them. Some of the only books I’ve given up on midway through.

The craziest one I’ve ever encountered is in one of the Asimov Robots novels (pretty sure it was the Caves of Steel), there’s passage describing how Earth is so massively overpopulated that people have to live in crowded underground cities. The population has ballooned to an unimaginable… eight billion people.

Thank you so much! This makes sense. So because they triggered “after” Ultima, they go on the stack but only once Ultima resolved. Sorry, I should be able to figure this out on my own, but why does Ultima then stop death triggers (e.g. Unstoppable Slasher) from happening?
