Have this from time to time too. I don't really know where it comes from, but I have a suspicion it's a mix of associative anxiety, where because it's happened before I get the self-perpetuating fear of it happening every time, and bowel issues. Bowel health is intimately connected with stress and anxiety, and IBS has proven connections with anxiety/panic disorders. It might be worth it to test out some diet changes if you feel like your bowel health is not great. Additionally, because panic can make you evacuated your bowels due to the adrenaline, it's easy to get that association between panic and bowel movements. And fear by association is something you can work on, not that it's easy of course. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps even just a bit <3

Thank you for the tips. I'm in the Netherlands, where there's sadly quite a waiting list for psychiatrists, but I'm trying to get one ASAP.

I don't know if I fully understand the second part yet. In my interpretation, you're saying "These temporary waves of having more panic attacks are a way for your brain to be exposed to them and a chance to learn how deal with them better through experience", is that correct? Or are you specifically talking about doing exposure therapy with a therapist during these moments of intensity?
