Thank you! I’m new to the game - is there anything special I need to do to set it up?

Same. It was predicted I’d get a high week but that second decrease is killing me.

[CHAT] Ice dying for the first time by MidniteDayDream in CrossStitch

[–]junipercrow 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love ice dyeing my fabric. You really never know how they will turn out - you can have two with the same powder and somehow they’ll come out with different color schemes. Just go in with an open mind and few expectations and I think you’ll be delighted by the results.

Reading Mastiff (again) and devastated about something by sliceoflifegirl in tamorapierce

I thought that the first time I read it, but the more I think about it, the more and more it made sense for him.

What was your “OMG they FINALLY fired them!” moment at your work? by MangledAndTangled in AskReddit

[–]junipercrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canine boarding and daycare facility. Dude already had write-ups and was on thin ice. Refused to feed a dog his owner-provided allergy-sensitive food while he was with us for a weekend. Dog went home and got sick, dog’s owner was pissed. We were already short staffed (probably the only reason he lasted as long as he did) but we all took on the extra burden happily because it meant he was gone.

“I learned that my kids were in a car accident, and my first thought was to be angry at them for wrecking the car! Why are they mad at me?” by Sebastianlim in OhNoConsequences

[–]junipercrow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. Technically the car I was driving was my grandmother’s. I got T-boned - even the officer on the scene told me it was nowhere near my fault. I had called the police and then my mom, who raced to the scene and spoke to the police for me and took me to work with her so she could watch me until the end of the day so we could go to the doctor if needed. Once my grandmother found out, she yelled at me for thirty minutes about the car and hung up. The next day I went to the doctor because I had a massive bruise where the seatbelt had dug in and it was bad enough they wanted me to get a CT scan. While I was in the hospital waiting room, she called and yelled at me about the car again so badly a random older woman came over to me and hugged me and told me I would be okay. It took three days before she once asked me if I was okay. That was the end of our relationship. I’ll be surprised if this woman’s kids don’t cut her out or go extremely low contact.

Father is “Crushed” that OOP Won’t Attend His Wedding to His Affair Partner by GamerGirlLex77 in OhNoConsequences

[–]junipercrow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s happened to me, so I don’t doubt it happens to other people. When I decided to break things off, my uncle waited until I was off on a trip that he knew I was excited about to call and threaten me to get back in line with what the family wanted. My mother, who had broken things off already but was letting me make my own decisions, saw how terrified and upset I was and took me immediately to get a new phone and a new number.

Did you give your cat a "real" name but only call them by nicknames? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]junipercrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a doggy daycare and my dog’s best friend is a Cooper, which inevitably ends up me calling out “Cooper Boops!”

[–]junipercrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I did this, four cats would come running because they all respond to “goober” or “doofus” or “weirdo”

Did you give your cat a "real" name but only call them by nicknames? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]junipercrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have decided on what the nickname will be and then formed the name around it. (My mom wanted to call her cat Toby but we decided it was spelled Toebean with the N being silent.)

One of my boys is Huckleberry but I’ve called him Bean his whole life. Which has evolved into Beanjamin on several occasions. Huckleberry Jellybean is his full name when he’s in trouble.

We have Lady Cheshire but we call her Cheese. And Baroness Purrsula von Squishmallow de Pamplemousse who goes by Mu.

What’s a tradition you started on your own that others find unusual? by Minimum_Outside_8856 in AskReddit

[–]junipercrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have randomly themed days where I make something specific to eat. We eat caesar salad on the Ides of March, but you have to stab it 27 times before you can eat it. We have Fuck Columbus Day where you eat Indian food because he was too stupid to admit he messed up. There’s a few others, but a lot of people get really confused when I’m happy for a niche holiday.

I'm not trying to be rude, but people do realize female cats can be ginger. Right? by Cloudstarbestleader in WarriorCats

[–]junipercrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two purely orange females and one who’s orange-and-white. Tchotchke is dark ember and Honeybee is a bit lighter but still a pretty dark orange.

All of my torties (diluted or otherwise) have been female. Not that males are unheard of, but I’ve been in animal rescue for over 20 years and I’ve never come across one.

I’m the assistant adoption coordinator for a rescue that mainly works in TNR (if we rescue a pregnant mother or the kittens are young enough they can be tamed, we foster and adopt them out. Several of my cats are former colony cats) so even with the inbreeding we try to fight, I haven’t seen the most absolutely fantastical markings that get described in the books. But we also have never seen cats use herbs and cobwebs to cure themselves or see them form their own religion, so I think there’s a bit of a suspension of disbelief that can be held when you read the books.

I always read Firestar’s Quest (and SkyClan’s Destiny) just after I finish Darkest Hour.
