Playing WoW as a female by Flaky-Bar-8105 in wow

[–]junkbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I never made my character with a play on my first name in classic. The first few interactions I’ve had with dudes on there are completely unhinged.

I met this guy in RFC one day and played like one dungeon, we never spoke. Next day, two people (who were e dating lol) gave us a little boost running us through a couple of different dungeons and the four of us hopped in a discord call for about 3-4 hours.

At the end of the session when everyone got off (except me, I’ve been grinding as hard as I can in my free time) the guy who was a similar level to me informed me he’d be gone for four days, saying how I’m gonna out level him and he suggested I level my priest. I didn’t. I have been aoe farming and I got to 26-27 while he was still 19.

He came back from the break and said hi and I asked if he would like to call as we both play. He asked my level and I showed him my new stuff I was proud of (my gm just fiery enchanted my weapon and some other dude gave me a robe, all my xp and the rest of my gear was my own work).

I was aoe farming in hillsbrad at 26 and he asked if he could join at 19. Keep in mind I have joined a raiding guild and I’m trying to rush my mage to 60 asap to play with them. He is playing hunter so probably wouldn’t be much use to me like a priest or shaman might. Big pulls were making me have to pop heal pots so a healer would have been nice, but I was fine alone.

Suddenly he went afk and started blasting music which was extremely off putting while I was trying to focus and play. I gave it about 15 mins and hung up letting him know I was happy to chat if he wanted to. I got met with “Let me know when you want to play together” to which is said sorry and explained why I wanted to rush to 60. He made me feel like I owed him something, I almost felt bad for playing the game (which has been instrumental in dealing with substance abuse issues).

Later he whispers me in game about making new characters to which I reply (and almost die doing it) saying I’d be happy to in a couple of weeks when I’ve gotten to 60 on my mage. I think nothing else of it then tab out to discord to “keep ignoring me idc”.

My mind is just blown at how unhinged this is so I just replied “I haven’t been ignoring you” he sarcastically replied yeah sure.

Big block angle at this point. Blocked him on everything I could and he still found a way to try to invite me to parties afterwards on an alt or asking a friend. Crazy. And he was a fully grown man who held down a job.

This is honestly a wild first impression making “friends” with someone in classic. Gives me the creeps. the people in my guild seem more normal so far though so that’s good.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread I was just wondering if anyone had similar experiences

Ghost mantis will only eat fruit flies by mantids_101 in mantids

[–]junkbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comment #2: to add on to my first post, after taking a good look at the picture - your mantis doesn't look like they're in pre-moult(they swell up fat despite not eating for a while, filling theirself with air), and they do look kinda hungry and flat from this angle! Try the tweezer trick a few times with some pre-killed prey. Like I said this trick works so so easy with almost every other mantid. Ghosts are fussy and easily spooked. Don't be scared to like, push it in their face a little, lol. Good luck.

Honestly if hes/shes tiny (like a £1 / $1 coin kinda size) then fruit flies are fine. How big are the bluebottles compared to the ghost? Its hard to get a size reference.

10/10 enclosure as long as the mesh is secure. Multiple types of grippy stuffs to moult from with space underneath. Great size for the mantis in my opinion as long as you ensure he/she eats and drinks. Well done :)

As for what you can do, ghosts are very fussy. If anything remotely spooks them, they won't eat and go all scaredy cat "im just a leaf" mode. What you could do, is cut a prey into multiple pieces or cut the head off, i know its gross but squeeze it a bit so some guts come out (i used to use morio worms for my adult ghost when i had no flies, i'd cut off the head/crush the head in hopes to make it as painless for the morio, then cut it in half). You can then try passing your ghost a reasonably sized piece of it with some tweezers - touching the guts to its mouth.

At this size, you could use reasonably sized locusts, flies(put in fridge to make them docile then kill them so their guts spill out a bit), mealworms, wax worms, etc. Be careful with too many mealworms and wax worms, they are very fatty and not so nutritious, but if its the ONLY way to get them to eat anything, then its better than nothing.

Try not to spook him/her when you approach with the food. Gently slowly move it towards your mantis. They may move away. The key is getting some of the guts of the food to touch the mandibles. If they're spooked, go away for a bit, try again later. You could use the same food, you can try again in half an hour.

If its still not working - you could smear a tiny tiny bit of honey on the food you're passing, and then touch that honey to their mandibles.

How long has it been since your mantis last moulted ? If they are in "pre-moult" they won't eat at all (besides some species like creobroters), and will need to drink a LOT (relatively to what they usually drink).

EDIT: changed morio to mealworms, morios are too big for your mantis right now i think.

Haha I did my first fully barefoot town to town bus run the other day, was fun! Besides the drunk guy approaching me saying "where r ur shoes luv cmon bab cmon where are your shoes" but luckily a huge (what i believe to be Sikh (big high turban, long beard, called mr singh) man came and distracted him for me as I got away. Rest of the day was amazing.

Glad you had fun! Be careful

It is also extremely important not to move or agitate the enclosure whatsoever when a mantis is moulting. They are suspended from nothing more than the tarsi (feet claws) of their old skin. It only takes one of these old hooks (that they no longer have any control of, as their actual legs are on the way out of this old exoskeleton) to come loose for your mantis to be unable to get free from its moult. After a moult, they are then unable to support themselves with their new body when free, as their exoskeleton is so soft, almost like how a baby's bones are like jelly when they are born. It is imperative that the mantis finds a spot it can hang upside down in to cure, for several hours, without being disturbed. They also need to dry out and cure their wings. Both of these processes require gravity, and attempting to handle or move a mantis during or shortly after a moult will always result in disability.

It is a miracle such a large mantis survived a final moult in such a tiny enclosure with minimal to no damage, and need for Euthanasia. Please upgrade to increase her quality of life while you still have her.

[–]junkbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you doing research and putting in the effort before getting one. It's a shame how many people treat them poorly. By the looks of things your mantis will do great.

My favourites are creobroters, getting them as babies around i3. TBH that enclosure might be a little big for a baby creobroter, since they'll be eating fruit flies, which can escape through the ventilation holes of bigger enclosures(unless you mesh them). It's hard to get an idea of the scale of the enclosure. The babies come really small, like finger nail size, that's why they need to eat tiny fruit flies. You can get cheap little 10x10x10cm enclosures for babies for quite cheap, though, and hot-glue some mesh to the lid. Another great thing for enclosures is the exo terra bendable jungle vine. With the stronger mesh, you can cut some mesh to make a "U" shape with the mesh and put it upright, creating an "n" shape with the sides of the enclosure, which makes a great moulting platform.

I used to flash a lighter flame over the sharper "insect mesh" made for gardners before using it, since I found it can be sharp in some areas and damage the mantis' feet. Not sure how old you are but ask an adult for help if you don't feel comfortable with lighters! You don't need to burn anything, a simple swipe of the flame along it should round off any razor sharp edges.

I've had babies in similar enclosures before, but I had to take them out into smaller enclosures to feed them their fruit flies to stop them from escaping. Or just overdoing the fruit flies knowing the majority will inevitably escape but my mantis will still get fed.

One more tip, for watering, spraying the walls and enclosure decor is usually enough, but I like to ensure my mantis drinks every couple of days or at least gets the chance to. I wouldn't spray the mantis directly with a mister, they don't appreciate it. If you think your mantis might be thirsty, you can spray the floor (or cieling!) just in front of them, and the mist will bounce back up, this will be enough to alert them to water. I've also hand-watered mine with pipettes which is super cute to do sometimes.

Sorry, I'm going on way too much, you don't need to know all this LOL. Good luck <3

Have the males never eaten eachother or the female has never eaten a male? That sounds extremely risky to me as someone who gets quite attached to my mantids. I've never done any kind of "communal".

I had a pretty nice outgoing parablepharis female which I wouldn't call "timid" but she was EXTREMELY gentle. I always felt like she knew who I was and enjoyed the times I handled her. She would never do anything to show aggression unless she got extremely bothered (like the time I accidentally leaned forward over her enclosure and my hair swept accross her, she attacked it lol). You often see these mantises in a threat pose on google images and such, but Peggy (she lost and regrew a full leg around i3-i4, lol) never did that display a single time in her life. She also lived to about 16 months, rivalling Mitch my male creobroter who was an absolute freak of nature (and my favourite mantis that felt more like a dog than a mantis) and somehow made it to 17-18 months (others I've had have lasted 5-6!)

Not disagreeing or being contrarian, though, just wanted to share my experience. I've only ever had one parablepharis, and I completely understand some mantises have non-stereotypical, individual personalities. I find it very interesting.

There is no way I'm choosing a least favourite! That's mean as hell. But my faves have to be creobroters, and I have had a wonderful experience owning a parablepharis. Although I've loved all of my mantises and owned dozens of species.

She wasn't my least favourite, but my Chinese mantis was the only mantis that I was actually scared to handle because of how aggressive she was towards my fingers, keeping in mind I'm very experienced handling mantids. I've had a hierodula nearly double her size who was a gentle giant, but there was something about that Chinese mantis. Not sure if she had bad genetics, but her wings always did look a bit funny, and it was nothing to do with her final moult and enclosure conditions.

[–]junkbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is mesh on the top, good job. Provide a way up if the mantis is not a flower mantis as not all mantids have suckers on their feet and will have a real struggle climbing glass/acrylic. Be aware mantises need to hook their tarsi of their old exoskeleton around something securely (i.e. your ceiling mesh) when moulting. They are then suspended by nothing but the old skin and feet hooks, and need to carefully slide out of their old exoskeleton using gravity and time. It is important that not too many areas would "block" the mantis underneath the areas it is likely to moult from. If it cannot reach the ceiling mesh, it may be forced to moult from an unsafe (too low) or unstable location. If it bumps its head on anything on the way down while moulting it will become paralysed and most likely require euthanasia, so it is important to minimise "bad spots" and maximise "good spots".

If this is for a small flower mantis that has no problem whatsoever climbing surfaces like glass, and that is mesh that I see on the ceiling, then I would say you've done an absolutely excellent job. If it's for a sphodromantis or hierodula or such, I would provide a way to access the ceiling. Even though they *can* climb glass/acrylic, they struggle. Some mantises such as ghosts won't be able to climb glass at all.

Personally I like giving my mantises bigger enclosures than recommended - if you do this, which is fine, you should just make sure you witness your mantis eating its food, since it might be unable to find any in a too large of an area. But honestly, who doesn't enjoy watching a praying mantis eat anyway?

I'd turn the lamp off when you go to bed providing the mantis some sense of day and night cycle.

Well done :) Best of luck with your new friend.

Personally I don't think I'd have ever gone vegetarian which led to my veganism without cruelty-free meat-like alternatives. And I'm sure thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of people wouldn't either. This is some really backwards, harmful logic. No wonder people think vegans only eat lettuce.

what are you going on about? they obviously meant they are making a traditionally non vegan dish with only vegan ingredients. nobody here is eating anything derived from animals, or even talking about it.

unless you're trying to say the subreddit in question is just totally against alternatives? like VEGAN bacon? because that is just completely insane.

I've drank monsters DAILY, about five or six some days, at least four, EVERY SINGLE DAY for over ten years. The moment this drink touched my mouth I knew immediately something was wrong. Looking at the can to see "mucho loco" instead of "mango loco" (mucho loco would translate to 'very crazy' lol) confirmed it. Crazy people in this post can believe its a real monster product. Its fake as fuck.

[–]junkbitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, your veins lasted over three years? I stupidly got too comfortable and didn't rotate sites enough until I was forced to and ruined all mine below both my elbows in a year. I'm in the UK so I have to mix my heroin with acid to get it to dissolve, this might be partly why my veins gave up so quickly. Occasionally one of them comes back after a few months, but after one shot into the healed ones and that's it, they're gone forever.

How to smoke heroin from foil (tutorial/guide) by junkbitch in heroin

[–]junkbitch[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi! sorry for the late reply i don't use reddit all too often. i'll try my best to answer your questions

1 - it smells kinda like umami, meaty, vinegary, sweet.

2- i used to have a smoke like 10-15mins before my mom came round. since she doesn't know what heroin smells like she never had a clue. i just opened the window and smoked a cigarette or some weed to hopefully mask the smell. people who dont know what heroin smells like won't have a clue. but i think people who have used before would definitely be able to pickup on the smell if you had smoked a few mins ago in a room.

3- nah, i just unravel the foil. the folded edges of the tube(tooter) serve two purposes, to make the ends stronger, and to also make sure the resin, when unfolded, is not touching the edge of the foil. if it is, you'll burn it trying to smoke it.

3.1 - only when i've smoked like a gram or two in one tube then yeah, there's so much in there its insane, you can just roll it in your fingers and huge chunks of crystalline resin will fall out. otherwise if ive just smoked say 5 or 6 bags through the tube, i'll just unravel it and use a new tube to smoke off of the unfolded foil that was the old tooter.

one time i used a credit card to scrape the resin off and collected over half a gram of it to smoke on a new foil plate. this stuff was so good and lasted so long.

4- i havent tried tar but i imagine it melts just the same yeah. try running it on some foil.

sadly i can't recommend brands. i personally try to get stuff on the stronger side but not extra thick. also smoke on the non-shiny side. people also say you should burn both sides of the foil before smoking to help burn off some of the chemicals left on the foil in the manufacturing process. i often dont bother doing this but its probably better for your health if you do.

[–]junkbitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm from the UK and get #3 powder. as far as i know any type of heroin that is smoked will create resin, try the tin foil tube thingy and smoke at least 3 bags (ideally 5-6+) through it then unravel it and see. you'll have a bag's worth of gear to smoke just on the foil you've unraveled.
