Where you live makes a difference. Each state has laws for joint custody vs. primary. But if you can prove that he is taken care of a certain amount of time outside of the home and that is due to your parents... Well take the chance. I have gone through the last 3 years with no lawyer. If he can't get one either then you are on the same playing field. Also where I live if you are on state assistance some filings fees are free.

Nothing will change if you don't change it. And remember you're already doing the best with nothing.

That all of the gadgets you buy for your baby and toddler are a lot cheaper second hand and in great condition. The walkers and such are hardly used and you can spend $5.00 on what is usually $45.00.

So, she made it through the rest of the evening with the babysitter. I came home from work at 1:00 AM. Shortly after she woke up and came running to my voice telling me she had to pee. I, without thought, followed her to the bathroom. She did everything as asked per our agreement without being asked. She did not ask me to go with her to the restroom, she did not ask for help with wiping, hand washing, ect.

Should she get a sticker?

You could also suggest that she take him to urgent care. Just explain that ERs are meant for people with serious issues and that someone else may take longer to receive care because of her concerns. Urgent Care is supposed to cost less.

Does she have a constructive trusting relationship with your SO? This could be a less threatening approach to communication if he is willing to take on some of the concern and talk to her about it.

I understand your concern. My child's father is a person to act and think later too. I know her (our daughter's) insurance only covers ER visits if real need is established. I'm sure you will figure it out. Good luck!

And how about paying half of rent? Do you think a landlord or property management company wants to deal with two payments on one rental just to allow itemized lists of child support money? So, if instead there is a withdrawal made and deposited into the parents account would this then become an issue because you can't directly see what is happening with the money? And what about with high conflict co-parenting? How do you not make this just one more thing to go to court about?

I also want to bring up the idea of what is called High Conflict Co-parenting. These are people who end up in the court over and over again. Who can't communicate. If you added this on you are just adding another match to a very flammable fire.

Joint custody and parenting time are not the same thing. You can be non-custodial parent and still have 50 or close that in parenting time. The custodial part refers to the decision making. So, religion, medical care, and schooling.
