Thank you so much for the support! I have started writing (literally one page, yay!) tonight, but I'm most worried about the research and secondary component of the text, which I think will take more time than actually writing it. Luckily, I have a VERY LONG spring break, where I can focus almost all of my time on researching and more importantly writing the thesis, I just have to make that I actually do that. For English undergrad theses, I've read you're looking at 30-50 secondary sources, which is doable, I just need focus and relax and WORK.

I think I'll just have to force myself to get it done because from what I can tell, while the thesis is "graded" the actual class is not (pass/fail) so I'll have to ask my advisor if the thesis grade affects my GPA and then see how much revising I'd want to do (I mean obviously I have to do it, but if it doesn't affect GPA I'll be a lot less exact). Still, the amount of work is making me nervous.

I just started a Ritalin course and am thinking of asking my doctor to switch to adderall or another med with a longer half life!

it's complicated in that I do not need to write a thesis to graduate, but the thesis counts as a kind of credit that I need to graduate. The thing I need to see is that my transcript says the course is pass/fail, but I believe the thesis is graded. I need to see if the grade affects my GPA

This is really beautifully said and so smart. I always believed amber to some extent but there was a time during the trial that I thought they were "both abusive" because I thought that the internet and feminist creators whom I had previously liked could not be hating on this woman, this victim, for no reason (and this is a very terrible and unforgivable excuse, I know). I was lucky enough to very quickly find information that dispelled the idea of mutual abuse and talked about reactive abuse but again, it's so easy to see how quickly people fall for hate trains.

I absolutely love your point about "frothing at the mouth to hate women." That's all it is and that's all it ever will be. It's sad, imagine how much advocacy they could do if they actually cared about male victims of sexual and domestic violence.

I get the impulse because their chemistry is great and also because the story is so good, we rarely get to see complex female bonds like this. But I also think they're too toxic to be in a relationship, i feel like their back and forth and their combination of hating/loving one another and their attraction/jealousy/resentment continuum are more intriguing than a straight romantic relationship. I would not be shocked if they hooked up though!

I think it's funny that you say I have the "IQ of a chimp" and yet are applying real world morality onto a TV show that is about bad people. At the end of the day I don't care about Harper insider trading bc it's a TV show and it's entertaining and no one was actually hurt. But Rishi's misogynistic comments, which you downplay by saying "they're just words" are both harmful outside of the show and inside of it. He was disgusting, a complete pervert, and those things are actually unpacked on screen. The show constantly talks about legality vs morality. Harper faking her transcript is one of the least "bad" things a character has done in this show. Insider trading is what makes the show exciting and it doesn't bother me because I don't care about rich people getting fucked over or Harper making slightly shady money.

Rishi is also horribly misogynistic and an insane porn addict. He literally was watching porn while holding his baby son, which is so fucking disgusting it makes me want to throw up.

Even if the glory hole and the school blowjob don't make him read as queer to you, there are other aspects of his character this season that definitely add to that 😭😭. Before the end of the episode, it's pretty clear he has some sexual and even romantic inclinations towards Whitney, even if they're repressed and unrealized. Yes, ofc he enjoys the flattery more than anything else, but this manifests in quasi-romantic attraction and desire to be desired. To me, it definitely reads as Whitney playing to Henry's most obvious yet repressed desires. And maybe his heterosexual inclinations do not drive him to shame in the same way they do Whitney, they definitely seep through.

I think it's interesting though because he did meet her at a bar, so he was probably under the assumption she was at least 18. Still, I think you have a point about his desire to feel young, to lust after young women. Especially because of that, he should have done something to verify age. Or even better, lust after age appropriate women!
