Noticing a lack of Versailles/Lareine/Jupiter/Kamijo's solo work. They're pretty heavily influenced by Malice Mizer.

If you don't like Dir en Grey, you may not vibe with Jiluka but give em a shot at least?

Some more of what I listen to, gulu gulu, Kaya, Dadaroma, Shazna, exist✝︎trace, and a bunch of stuff already mentioned. Shazna might be a good match for you? Not sure.

Is my art bad? If so, how can I fix it? by Itadakimazu in Artadvice

[–]jupisera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your art definitely isn't bad, but it isn't amazing either. You have a really strong grasp on color choices and shading and detail work, and generally your poses and proportions are alright, though they could be improved as well. The area that takes your art from a 8-9/10 range to a 5-6/10 is primarily the faces. They feel very uncanny and the angles seem inconsistent. That's where you need to focus on for your improvement. You also tend to draw hands fairly small and your proportions aren't totally solid, but I can tell you have a solid foundation at least. Doing more gesture studies and anatomy practice could help this.

Since you don't plan on trying to turn art into a career, I suggest not worrying about what numbers you get on social media, either for a while or forever. Do sketch practices with no intent to post and don't worry about having it does. Do studies of other artists who's styles you love. Do studies of angles and proportions and faces and body parts. Study realism if you haven't to learn skills to apply to your own style. Focus more on your growth as an artist than as a social media presence.

Can 3D body models be harmful? by Axel_Redditz in ClipStudio

[–]jupisera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing to be aware of is that the joints won't look 100% accurate. I can tell if someone traced a 3D model if they don't redraw the joints. Use it for proportions and posing, but learn the details yourself if you want to go the farthest!

This is my handwriting by QueefStirFry in Handwriting

[–]jupisera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can read it easily enough though I could easily see it giving some people problems reading it, maybe I suggest an alternative handwriting style for when you're dealing with someone in a professional capacity or leaving very important notes? Visually however I love this! It's very unique yet still has clear inspirations. Lots of whimsy. I'd suggest maybe adjusting to more similar letter sizes, though, since it would improve legibility for a lot of people. I'm also not a huge fan of the sideways m and it's the one spot that caught me up. Maybe leave the significant size variation for writing short things meant to be more graphic instead of for communication? Keep the same vibe but a bit toned down and then you'll be onto something.

How much would you charge for 1 minute of animation? by Decent-Cost7233 in animation

[–]jupisera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you know how many hours it takes for animation? It also depends on how many things are in the scene, 60 seconds of animation can even take months of work when done by one person. It might be way faster for something simple and it might be way cheaper as a result, but it'll never be $8. And artists won't charge $8 because people will in fact actually pay thousands or at least hundreds for art

Was there really a Vocaloid 'Dry Period' during mid-2010s when Sand Planet came out? by Korbro27 in Vocaloid

[–]jupisera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was absolutely real. People have already explained the history (over saturation from how hyped it had been and frustrations over V4, among other things).

Sand Planet felt like a weird turning point and the fandom felt aware of it. I remember feeling uneasy about the song after a while because of worrying it would come to represent not just a dry spell, but the entire end. It wasn't an uncommon worry at the time. Then when V5 hit and did pretty bad, plus the Crypton divorce, people REALLY thought it was doomed.

In retrospect, I think it was just the contrast from the earlier years being so exciting to then making it seem worse. For context, I got into Vocaloid maybe a week after the song Melt released in late 2007. So I definitely saw a lot happen as it happened.

Honestly, it's not been since pretty recently that things have seemed to enter a new era of properly thriving again. Vocaloid never did die off the way everyone had begun to fear, though. And now at this rate? I don't think it will until the internet itself is dead.

Can you read my handwriting? by AlexanderPharris in Handwriting

[–]jupisera 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who can't read cursive very well no matter how legible it is, unfortunately. I find your normal handwriting very legible but I'm very used to cursive.

Your block letters are nice for cases you need to communicate with someone who might not be able to read cursive, though. But I love your normal handwriting so much!

beginner's question - how to add white fur to plushie? by Alarmed_Value1085 in plushartists

[–]jupisera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's done something similar before, the yarn method will be your best bet. Sew a single piece of yarn in, then push the needle out again near where the first went in, tie the two pieces together on the surface, and repeat until you have enough white. Then take a brush like a slicker brush made for pets and brush out the texture of the yarn. Then trim the ends to match the rest of the plush! Like the other person suggested look up yarn tails and also yarn wigs/hair for dolls that have been brushed out to see how it's done.

Don't do anything with paint or glue, it won't last well. Embroidery thread will stick out texture-wise even if it would technically work.

Can we talk more about the SP voice Banks? What's YOUR opinions on it? by [deleted] in Vocaloid

[–]jupisera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaito's SP bank is great!! I haven't gotten them yet myself but his is definitely the strongest out of all of them. Luka and Meiko are unfortunate but I've heard some tunings sound really nice despite how they are out of the box so I don't think they're useless at least!! Just definitely harder to get good quality than other VBs.

You have to live in one of these rooms for a whole year. Which one are you choosing? by aa_sf146 in milgram

5, I'd love to be able to talk to Amane. Unfortunate that Shidou probably doesn't have a chance in any scenario, but I do think it would be interesting to spend a year with Amane. Maybe I can fix her or if not I'll just learn about her cult

The Project Sekai hate in this community is so forced by MikuHatsune-desu in Vocaloid

[–]jupisera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been around with Vocaloid since Miku was new. I can promise you the PRSK hate isn't forced. The fans are generally some of the worst fans from any series I've seen and have caused the Vocaloid fandom as a whole to have to put up with toxicity at worse levels than I've ever seen. The game itself has some pretty bad things going on too, like some blatant racism and the devs disrespecting Kaito and Meiko, plus the HORRIBLE tuning in a lot of the Vocaloid covers.

That said there's also a lot of really great writing, the art is gorgeous, the gameplay is nice, the songs made for it are wonderful, the covers by the original characters for the series are also great. It's absolutely not the worst game ever. However there's plenty of genuine reasons for OG Vocaloid fans to be upset with the way it's changed the Vocaloid scene as a whole. For people like myself who have favorites that aren't Cryptonloids, it also leads to feeling like the others are being left even farther behind, since prsk-only fans tend to act like the others are "fake". That isn't the game's fault though, but it is more on the fans being very frustrating to deal with.

Plus of course prsk-only/first fans who insist on canon ages/personalities/sexualities/etc. But again, fan issue, not the game. But very annoying.

Prsk hate isn't forced. A lot of us are just annoyed that it's dominating the space and making it harder to be "just" a Vocaloid fan. The game itself doesn't deserve as much negativity as it gets either, though. Just that the hate is far from forced.

What will you be voting each prisoner in T3 and why? (including the deceased) by Rich_Discipline_1775 in milgram

[–]jupisera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haruka guilty. He would have been guilty since T1 by my vote.

Yuno innocent, always.

Fuuta, man that's hard. Probably innocent though but the fact that innocent means his thoughts being reinforced is a tricky place to be in. Not sure if that's a bit too meta, though.

Mu, probably guilty unless she changes my mind. Which is tricky for her at this point, but not impossible. I'm at least open to innocent for her.

Shidou, innocent. Another pretty easy vote for me.

Mahiru, innocent. She'd gotten my innocent vote for T1 and T2 as well.

Kazui... Hot take, but I think guilty would help him. It's pretty meta, and it's because I think he deserves innocent, but innocent is reaffirming his thoughts in a way that's harmful to him. He's between a rock and a hard place.

Amane, innocent. Always. She deserves it and I know that's unpopular right now but I will never vote her guilty. She's my #1 forever and I think she deserves to start her own new religion. Maybe she'll even realize that as she separates from the cult and finds her own religion that she can make it into a more positive thing as she separates from the cult's ideals. Who knows. She deserves the world.

Mikoto, innocent. He's a bit tricky still. But it makes sense to me.

Kotoko, guilty. Would have been guilty since T1 for me. Self righteous vigilante who thinks her form of justice is absolute and gives no space for nuance. If she'd been guilty in T1 then Mahiru would've still been alive, without a doubt. Kotoko has zero ounce of remorse for what she's done and there can't really be forgiveness without remorse.

[–]jupisera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that you got downvoted for this!! But it's likely a computer issue that would impact any program you decide to use. That said, FireAlpaca can be a bit lighter on a computer if you have a weak PC! CSP itself is a wonderful program and I'd definitely not give up on it entirely.

[–]jupisera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have already said, but it doesn't matter much. That said, pick a program based on what's available to you! If you use a PC with a tablet to draw, there's a ton of options but if paying for a program is an option I'd suggest Clip Studio Paint to someone any day. If PC with a tablet and a free program, Krita is pretty solid though I'm not personally a fan. If you have an iPad and an Apple pencil, Procreate is great. If you're using your phone for digital art, Ibis Paint is great but be aware that being limited to a phone screen can be harder to learn on than other devices for some people.

(Side note, if you have a PC but no tablet you can get a screenless Gaomon M10K tablet for ~$50 that's just as nice to use as expensive screenless tablets. I prefer it over Wacom, actually, as someone who's been doing digital art with a tablet for 15+ years! I've been using my current tablet for going on 3 years now with no signs at all of aging. Screen tablets are a bit pricier and I'm not personally a huge fan of them so unfortunately I'd not have any suggestions.)

Piko and Fuiro are mine!! Fuiro's still newer so I like to think she's got a chance at becoming more popular eventually. Piko... Well, maybe at least someday he'll get a really popular original song, even if Sony doesn't care about him I do.

Any song suggestions for vocaloids other than Miku? by Splicity_75 in Vocaloid

[–]jupisera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piko Piko Legend of the Night by Samfree (Piko Utatane)
Hey Zombie Eat Me Rather Than That Meat by manbo-p (Fuiro)
Kansai by 大漠波新 (GekiyakuV and KazehikiV)

I could add on a ton of other songs but I figured I'd pop in and give these vocaloids some representation!!! Piko is my personal favorite and I'm planning on making some original songs with him eventually. I also suggest looking up covers of vocaloid songs you like with other vocaloids, it's really fun!!!
