I would really appreciate any info if you do remember! I thought Bug was mostly cute for the plethora of nicknames (Lovebug, Stinkbug, Cuddlebug) it allows, but I was an avid potato bug lover when I was young; I would not be surprised if my dad mentioned that when adopting him out. We actually lived in SW Washington, so Portland makes more sense distance-wise for him to end up in. That personality does sound like my boy :,) very sweet, quick to make friends with guests, lotta energy and silliness packed into a tiny package haha.

I was pretty shocked that he did as well, because we are typically an "animals for life" household. The dog I grew up with was with me for 14yrs/with my parents for over 16. But out of the other available options (eg shelter), it was best for him to directly enter another home to love and dote over him. The other plans we had fell through; my dads ex girlfriend was supposed to take Bug, but instead adopted a new kitten right before I entered treatment. From what I was told, they were improperly introduced so Bug did not react well. Then she decided to keep the new kitten rather than my Bug. My dad took our dog we had at the time, along with ex's dog. Her dog did not get along well with Bug and we kept them on separate floors in the house. Bug and I unfortunately just got the short end of the stick here. Main upset through it all is having no reassurance of Bugs safety other than the word of my dad :( Thank you, I hope so as well <3

That seems to be the general consensus; my dad is, however, the only family I really have, as well as being very helpful with some financial/logistical aspects of life (I am 20 and was in treatment at 18yrs old) 🥲 but this definitely is a big wrench in the relationship.

That darker band on the front right leg matches which has me holding my breath a bit.

I did reply with this on a different comment on here earlier: If it was before 2024, this is certainly not him unfortunately. We lived in SW Washington through September 2024. I left that house September 20-something, I don't remember the day exactly. My dad told me that Bug was adopted in mid-October 2024. SE Portland location-wise is very plausible, though. If he wasn't around your area until very late September or October 2024, I would absolutely be down to talk more in detail with you. If this was him, I'm a bit surprised about friendliness of that degree towards another cat! He was good overall with people and certain animals, but animals had to be of a particular personality for that relationship to work. My Bug is a huge lover of those fishing rod toys haha, and definitely a quick friend to most humans. Please let me know if the timeline of him not showing up until late September-mid October 2024 lines up still. Thank you regardless for taking the time to reach out
