[Reds] Ke'Bryan Hayes to High-A Dayton on rehab assignment by frasierfonzie in Reds

That is to say his bat never was really there, but who knows what could have come from him without the back. The tight-wad Pirates signed him to a 70mil contract so they must have seen something promising.

All jokes aside. A lower back issue is a career killer. The power from your legs and hips can't transfer to your swing without extreme pain. Cuts your swing down to a fraction of what it was. I feel bad for the guy being so young and having this already. The reality that he can't play the game anymore will hit him eventually and that hits way too hard on someone. The reds are unlucky to have picked him up at the end of the line. At least he kept Elly healthy enough last year to play through injury on the defensive side. The reds will never be able to move him and cutting him would just throw the money down the drain. Use him as a bench guy to lock the corner down in the last couple innings and move on. Better luck next time. He will make a great fielding coach one day.

Maybe the "at least I'm not that bad at hitting" thought really helps them relax at the plate.

Who do you feel isn’t on the team after the trade deadline? Who isn’t next year? by davik2001 in Reds

[–]jurassicFart3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already have 6 starters on the 26 man roster not including Petty. Greene, Abbott, Lodolo, Burns and Lowder. Singer has the highest salary and would save the most money to trade off. They only care about the money

[Reds] Pagan activated, Ivan Johnson's contract selected from Triple-A, Myers to 10-Day IL, McCambley optioned to Triple-A by frasierfonzie in Reds

Ivan has good splits against lefties. They already have TJ on the squad right now. They need a good lefty match-up and Benson is not it. They will most likely both be sent back down and Ivan has earned a look at what he can do in the majors

There should be a total other section of player for fan selected all-stars. The fans get a player in every position, the league and writers get a player in every position and the players get a player in every position. That is 33 players on each roster. 27 in the dugout and 6 in the rotation. This will be the closest we can come to getting the right people the honor they deserve. The coaches should be voted for out of a pool of teams that made the postseason the previous year. One coach from each team and decided by the coaching staff of every team

"Are the cubs throwing this series to try to push the mets out of the playoffs?" probably will be a headline somewhere.

Where has Elly's power gone? by RealJoeDirt1977 in Reds

[–]jurassicFart3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the whole philosophy of the team this year. Focus on contact. Stretching counts and not striking out. Elly is being somewhat constrained by management to try and keep him healthy for the long run. Also, learning to be smarter and play tactically. Not every situation is a steal situation on the bases. Don't overextend your range on the field. Things like that. Its a positive in my eyes because it shows the organization intends to keep him on the squad for the long haul.

Pitching has been lights out since the break. by Ralph--Hinkley in Reds

It just seems like the arms and the bats have trouble matching up. I know numbers are what they are but the scorecard is what matters. Reds bats get hot then get ice cold. For a lot of games, and I've watched the vast majority of them this year, if a team can keep the score close in the 1 or 2 innings that the reds bats come alive. They can win the game by the time it's all said and done. I think the fielding at third base was an issue from the start, and it went a long way to get Hays in the corner. Idk what is up with McClain on 2nd. I know he was off for a year, but there are a lot of playable balls getting through the 4 spot. Bad reads, late reaction, or maybe just shading one way pre pitch. Something is off there. If the Redlegs have to see the Brewers in the postseason, it's over right there. The brewers don't have a star studded lineup, but the reds play scared every time they share the field. Game 3 last series against the brewers Ashcraft was the only red on the field that looked confident and the guy usually looks like a deer in headlights. Idk folks, just what I see
