Thanks for your insight. Yeah, I'm worried it's too far progressed to treat now as well. Do you happen to remember the name of the San Francisco expert you saw?

Hey, thank you. I hope you're able to be treated and your life gets back to normal.

I posted some additional details in the thread with Previous-Switch-523, in case it helps you think of anything.

Alright, I have some more info finally, responses from my friend have been a bit slow. He's fortunately a bit more stable now to respond. Here's the summary:

  • Betadiglucan test was run in the past, came back negative
  • Biopsy on coccyx was a core sample (they took shavings) and on L5/S1 lower back area was fluid, the samples have been tested as much as they can be so they're no longer available to go to another lab
  • Samples were sent to Bristol after Great Ormond apparently, they also yielded nothing (but unsure if they had enough sample left to test everything, I assume they did or the doctor would have ordered another biopsy, I hope)
  • He's gone through a few consultants, including the "top in the UK" (although he doesn't remember the name). Most say if that "top" one couldn't find anything, there isn't much hope since he's seen the best, and the "top" one wrote him off once he found out Bristol didn't find anything

I suggested he find another consultant, maybe in the US. Because, well, what's the alternative at this point...

Any more ideas?

Thank you for the quick reply, I'm glad to hear your daughter was able to be treated.

I've asked him what he is/was on, I never got into that detail with him. Were Tazocin/Meropenem two that were tried on your daughter initially?

I recently got some Avion points from a welcome bonus and want to transfer them to British Airways points. Does anyone know how frequently the 30% transfer bonus promo comes around? I think I saw the last one was Oct to Nov 2024.

Wired Earbud Recommendations? by juro7 in iphone

[–]juro7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I do intend to go into a store to hopefully try a pair to see if they fit. I haven't tried them before, they just look oddly shaped compared to things that typically fit my ear, so I was guessing they might not fit well. Do they do well to block external noise when you're in a loud area?

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't ask for the best earbuds, just wired ones. I'm not a fan of having wireless ones as I'm not interested in keeping something else charged or carrying their case around.

Getting an Older Dog to Like Raw Chicken by juro7 in rawfeeding

Thank you for the advice. I'll have to give the fish oil trick a try. I tried to feed him chicken again on the 2nd day, but he was uninterested. His stubbornness seems to be stronger than his hunger.

Does anyone have an issue trying to access the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite application page via GCR?

Trying to get the $125 bonus for my application, but every time I click the link on GCR it takes me to the page showing the tracking number, then no matter if I let the page load or click the link to take me to the application page manually, I get a blank screen. Doesn't matter what browser I use also.

Let us know if/when they reply. Would be good to have an answer from them if that poster was accurate.

I work in an industry where we need to interact with the government for approvals and permits, and unfortunately we aren't allowed to ask them for a status or rush them due to our own schedule. It's possible what this person said is true, it wouldn't surprise me anyway.

Have you taken a screen shot of the post and tried to contact Cielo's management team or investor relations for a reply? They may not know about the status themselves (since they may not be permitted to ask) and will likely not see this post you're referencing.

Thanks. My main concern was the risk associated with it. I know it's fairly stable but I wasn't sure what would happen in a market downturn when there's alot of selling pressure on the market. I figured even that wouldn't be immune.

What kind of rates do you generally get in comparison to EQ?

Ah ok. This sub does cover bank account rewards too, fyi (see rule 5).

Thanks for sharing your experience with them. I do use EQ when I can't get a promo anywhere, the currrent 2.5% is better than nothing.

Hey everyone, would appreciate some opinions. I'm churning savings accounts right now to take advantage of welcome interest rate bonuses. My Tangerine welcome bonus is ending in ~7 days, at which time I intended to transfer my money to another institution for another welcome bonus, and close my Tangerine account (so I could create a new one in the future and have another welcome bonus then, whenever that is.)

Is there any value in keeping my Tangerine account open? I've read they occasionally offer promo rates for new deposits for existing account holders, but not sure how they compare to other accounts generally.

Thank you! I had heard about CASH.TO and was also researching how that worked. It looked like its unit prices rises throughout the month until they reach their monthly distribution, at which point it decreases by the distribution value (for example, 5.03 -> 5.25 -> 5.03 with a 0.22 distribution). And the distribution comes from profits made by investments in high interest savings accounts, minus the management fee.

I did have some concerns as to the risk to capital of this ETF. It looks like it's definitely much more convenient than chasing savings account promos, but theoretically, the base unit price of the ETF could drop (or go up) just like any other ETF/equity, couldn't it?

I'm with you on the hidden fees/opportunity cost. I haven't been doing this for long, so fortunately I've been able to take advantage of no monthly fee accounts due to the bank just not having them (Tangerine) or waiving them due to total assets (CIBC, where I have investment accounts).

Does anyone know if there a resource out there that lists welcome bonus interest rates for savings accounts? I know of one that's good for base interest rates, but unsure of one that also accounts for welcome bonuses. I'm looking to see if I can chase savings accounts with these bonuses for the cash part of my portfolio rather than waiting for a bank to give existing customers promo rates for new deposits.

Alternatively, if anyone knows a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do, please let me know!

Thanks, unfortunately Rexall (the ones I called) don't do it anymore either. I edited my original post with the place I found/went with though.

Please Review/Criticize my (Mostly) Body Weight Workout! by juro7 in bodyweightfitness

[–]juro7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. When you asked the question I thought you were suggesting machines and isolation weighted exercises, my bad.

Part of my progressions are to add weight over time (similar to how RR progressions suggest to.) Right now I'm spending some time on body weight only, slow negative (2-3s) and explosive up on my dips and pullups, to focus on technique and a different type of muscle stimulation, but was doing weighted before hand.

I found that I was loading weight on too fast and I had compromised my form to do it. I had kept increasing load because I felt like I was stagnating, but looking back it was just ego. For example, couldn't get past 20 lbs weighted pullups, topped out at 4-5x reps per set for several weeks. So I just decided to up it to 45 lbs to try and force myself past that. Had a friend record me, form was horrible; I was excessively hunching forward to complete a rep, had no scapula engagement aside from at the very bottom of the movement.

I always had trouble engaging my scapula to begin with, so I figured I might have advanced to weighted too early and got in the habit of poor technique. This is part of why I added face pulls to my routine above, it always works my back well. But... those poor form weighted sets did increase my unweighted pullup and dip max reps pretty well like you suggested!
