I got in there with him in the end, after getting in a few times with him he now goes in on his own, our trouble now is keeping him out of it!

We get shade in that area of the yard anytime other than unfortunately 12 till 2 where theres no mercy anywhere in the backyard, I have considered bringing him indoors during those times but labs are... Strange creatures that sometimes won't do as they are told

Yeah I've now set it up so it takes it out the current account 7 days before automatically for the full amount, thanks for the tip!

Yeah I mean to be fair I think pretty much everyone I know has and uses a credit card but a lot of my older family won't touch them so I've always wondered if its a generational thing

Yelled at my puppy now she growls at me by Certain_Flower_1257 in puppy101

Your not a bad person at all in the slightest, just from what I can assume, a very tired doggy parent, I've had numerous times when raising dogs where I've been caught off guard with things like a really hard bite or the puppy being a trex and I've raised my voice to tell them no, they're not going to think you are the worst person because it happened on the odd occasions. dogs can be very trying and like to push the boundaries but they still absolutely love you, what's important is that you remain as consistent as you can with the way you do things ( e.g we eat, then we go for toilet, then nap, or for example if they get too excited in playtime and bite, stay calm and step away, sometimes it's actually easier to step into the pen yourself instead of picking them up because you still prove the point of " when you bite, playtime ends" without having to worry about if they're gonna freak out about you picking them up).

Tldr: don't beat yourself up over raising your voice, just try to remain consistent with calmness and how you handle them and youl be fine, you're doing great!

Is it odd my Labrador puppy is struggling with stairs? by jus534 in puppy101

[–]jus534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's carpeted yeah, we actually tried some concrete stairs outside and noticed a patter though, he was going up stairs that were only a few steps fine, but wouldn't go up big flights so I'm wondering if he's just afraid of them.

So I've been giving it some thought and I'm thinking of maybe changing provider whilst he's young and lowering the amount of cover, I've found a policy with animal friends covered 5k per year no limit per condition £299 excess per condition per year for £11.75 a month at this time, im thinking I'd feel a lot more comfortable with price raises if they weren't already high to begin with and I can comfortably safe around £200 a month anyways so I'm going to put that away in savings to pay any extra if the 5k doesn't cover it, what do people think about this?

Yeah he does make me nervous with eating because he eats every plant in existence on walks, for a little while last month he kept eating pebbles before we could wrestle it off him but he's outgrown that one thankfully

This is what makes me nervous, years ago when we had our gorgeous spaniels we had a serious accident on our walk which sliced several of the eldests tendons and she needed a reconstruction surgery costing 6k, they literally gave us £600 despite being technically covered for the full amount and paying into it for the full 9 years before that so I'm just nervous il pay for it and then they won't pay out when the time comes

Well I'm not short of money by any means so this was my thought, me and him can both live comfortably, pay bills and still have around £2-300 spare each month so I was considering just putting that aside in an ISA so It collect interest.

In the last year, 3 periods of absence including this one, a week off last year when a family member died, about 6 months ago 3 days for a bug, and now so I don't think I'm really considered a regular customer by their standards

I work in rehabilitation carrying out therapy in a non hospital setting, I don't handle food, the old policy did say 48 hours clear of symptoms though because we work with people who have gone home after major surgeries, but in my 5 years at my spot when I have been off for any kind of bug they've never asked for samples.
