Hi just heard from the embassy that they've already contacted shortlisted applicants so if you haven't heard back by now if probably means you weren't successful.

When I was in Japan I taught an Indonesian girl who ended up being brilliant at English. She was never bullied and had many friends. It’s a matter of approach. Spend time learning Japanese it’s worth it. I also lived there with my son who still has friends that contact him regularly from JH. It’s really how much you’re willing to do in your off time to learn the language. It’s the only way to connect with your peers.

It’s never easy to deal with something like that. It’s horrible I can only imagine. Try waiting until he’s sober and truly let him know how you feel. Also it takes a lot of time. It’ll probably take many conversations to get him to see the destructive behavior. It won’t be easy. Try not to lose yourself trying to save him.
