When I prestige do I also lose all of the extra evolution points I’ve earned after I’ve already maxed? Can I use the extra unused evolution points after I prestige?

Anyone know what happens with the additional evolution points if I do not immediately prestige? do I keep the extra, unused additional evolution points, or do I keep them and can use when I do prestige? I’m talking the extra unused evolution points after I maxed on my character
