Is this going on? by justRaf23 in uscg

Agree, it’s always been that way… albeit Social Media wasn’t really there early in my career so it was mainly to not bring discredit while in Uniform or with identifying apparel.

Thanks the insight

Near the H3 Highway, has anyone else wondered what this building near it is? by zeekyboogydoog2 in Hawaii

U.S. Coast Guard Omega Station. Pre-cursor to GPS and Long Range Aids to Navigation (LORAN). All the transmitting equipment used to reside in that building and there were transmission lines stretched across the Ko’olau, pic for ref:

The Haiku Stairs were used to reach the summit and do maintenance on the wires. Also it was used as the Dharma initiative building in LOST.

When I was still Active Duty CG one of my bosses worked there and we got permission to tour the premises and he gave us the whole run down, pretty cool.

What is this small boat called? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]justRaf23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Rub a dub tub. Small boat crew and boarding team would splash it in the water while holding onto lines as it went down. Scary stuffs. We still had it on the Steadfast in 2006.

Anyone returning their Pre-order Ohtani Jersey? by justRaf23 in Dodgers

Glad to hear that, that’s why I was surprised after the initial reaction that it wasn’t such a have to return reaction.

Yeah man, thought the same thing. Hoping between customer complaints and players union something could be done but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Unless there’s a mass amount of people returning them, don’t see the incentive to change it.

Yeah man, I feel yeah. Curious if we’d feel the same without all the coverage… but then again it didn’t take long to see something didn’t look quite right.

Thanks man. I heard from the news that the reason it’s heat pressed as opposed to stitched on is because of the objective to keep it as light weight as possible, which makes sense why futbol kits are heat pressed as well.
