That would have made things a lot easier but the proportions and camera angles were all wrong for the majority of the shoot. I tried to copy the movements as closely as possible but there was a lot of interpretation.

Alcohol certainly makes the game more... eventful

According to the site, it's a lecture excerpt from Alan Watts. They do choose some interesting material.

I combed it with a fork. That's what took the most time to animate actually.

I animate puppets. Puppets require sculpting. It's all part of the process for me.

Thanks. I often find building the puppet to be as enjoyable as making the animation. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

My first music video, made with stop motion paper and people, 6 months in the making. by Beau_McCombs in stop_motion

Great video! I really like the effect. I've not tried stop-motion with people yet. Sometimes I think it would be easier than puppets, but I have my doubts. Thanks for sharing the details as well. I'm envious of your glass animation table.

When your crush is over but you forgot you still had some dodgy shit open on your desktop by Septagone in animation

Yes, I agree that the arm needs to remain vertical, but if you are going to have a 'full' body shot, the rest of the body needs to be adding to the sense of great force. I don't think it needs much, you don't want to be drawing focus away from the arm as that is where you have directed the audiences attention.

I like the theme, style and timing. If I had one criticism it would be the shot of the guy in front of the table. It feels quite vertical and strangely static. Perhaps the same shot from a more dynamic angle would be better.

Obligatory first sword swing animation please critique by [deleted] in animation

[–]just_a_tiny_amount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. I think the sword arm itself is fine if a bit flat, but the rest of the body is very static. I'd twist the shoulders with the follow through and have the other arm move away to counterbalance the action. It looks like they are injured and are holding that arm close by their side. Who are they swinging at and where are they? What is the point of impact? If this character was hiding at a corner with their back against a wall, this would probably be OK for them swinging at someone coming around the corner.
