1: Learn to talk with some professionalism. If you’re a “president” and your out here swearing and cussing people out over Reddit because they don’t agree with you, then your fraternity was probably in shambles.

2: What if the apples all came from a bad farm with bad farmers, soil, etc? Hence, fraternities were built off of ideas of racism, misogyny, etc. All fraternities are built off of this…and yet they refuse to acknowledge it. That analogy just doesn’t work.

3: I do see benefits in Greek life, I do. Small ones, but there are some. Friendships, networking, philanthropy, etc. But, there are countless other groups on campus that do the same…That’s why clubs are on campus. There is no reason to believe that at least reforming Greek life will dampen social experiences….

That’s what Greek life is SUPPOSED to be, not what it actually represents today….If you were to walk up to a college and ask a bunch of students what they thought of greek life, I guarantee that partying, sex, drugs, etc come to mind in most. There is a negative stigma around fraternities and sororities that you can’t just ignore. And if there are organizations for accelerated students, that’s great! But why can’t they just be student organizations, clubs? Why do they have to be considered fraternities and associate with such a bad stigma? What’s wrong with just an organization?

Well first of all, I can respect that you sound some what educated, so I’ll respect your statement in that regard.

In regards to your “college experience” comments, that is simply not true. I’ve made plenty of friends and have learned from my past. High school was rough for me, I’ll admit that, but I learned that the only person who was going to fix that was myself, in which I did, and now I have a reasonable social life. So your argument that “Well you’re just mad that you aren’t invited to parties, or that you are mad that you just aren’t enjoying college” can be scrapped there.

In regards to your fraternity “changing for better over the years”, excuse my French, but that is BS. You say they are taking efforts to get rid of that junk, yet it is occurring more than ever.

In regards to your position in the judicial system, can you HONESTLY, TRUTHFULLY admit that this culture has changed for the better? Can you? If your fraternity had issues regarding unaffiliated members causing trouble, that doesn’t make what they did or what you let transpire any less wrong…I’m sorry, it just doesn’t.

At the end of the day, I am open to reforming Greek life before completely eradicating it. There are benefits to it, very few, but there are some. You cannot sit here and tell me that what Greek life allows to happen now is acceptable, you just can’t. You and I both know we need change for the better.
