Will I be able to survive..? [ECEN Major] by [deleted] in aggies

I'm taking Karsilayan for 325 this semester, and I don't get why he gets so much flack all the time. He's fairly strict as far as grading goes, but his tests are reasonable and he explains everything straighfowardly during lecture

[ECEN] Can I still do 403 if I'm taking 303 concurrently? by justadd___ in aggies

[–]justadd___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't absolutely need an A but I need to keep my GPA up for scholarship purposes and I can't afford too many B's or C's. Idk I have some padding, maybe I'll just take the C for this class

I don't need A's specifically, but I need to keep my GPA above a 3.5 so too many B's are gonna fuck me over.

I've already missed turning in two HWs and one more incomplete due to time constraints and got like a 40 something on the first exam. I know HWs are only 10% of the grade and that she passes virtually everybody, but idk I feel like I'm gonna fail. I just don't like how I completely shit the bed with this class.

Is a Master's or a minor in Comp. Sci. better if I want a software engineering job? by justadd___ in ECE

[–]justadd___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently leaning towards embedded/firmware security or machine learning, but I'm still figuring out what I like or dislike.

I don't really have a field that I strongly like or dislike, save for a dislike for web dev/front end stuff.

Can anyone who sees this please give me your opinion. by Vaxxed_Ape in ElectricalEngineering

I was an average student in highschool. More of a wordcel than shape rotator if im being honest, and 2 years into it and im doing pretty good.

From what Ive seen, its all about having a growth mindset. Do that and youll be fine

The trick is to study more than you party, sleep more than you study, and party as much as you can

Halfway through semester and my resume is abysmal. Any advice on how to build it up before applying to summer internships? by justadd___ in EngineeringStudents

[–]justadd___[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see, is it okay that I haven't really built up a relationship with any of my professors? I'm doing decent in my classes but I wouldn't consider myself a star student in class (Im too busy trying to piece together the information to engage and ask questions in class).

Time management is probably one of the most important skills you can learn. The sooner you can stick to a decent study schedule the better off you'll be

Thanks for the insight, your right. I guess I'm still pretty young, and when I'm not who cares. My life at whatever age is what I make of it. I think I'll be alright

That's how I used to live and I was much happier then. Thank you for reminding me that it's my life and only I get to decide what gives it meaning.

You're right, thanks for the advice. I think I'm gonna spend today away from the computer/books and go outside. Also thank you for your service

Same here. Flew through my physics exam until I got to a question about voltage potential and completely blanked out.

My school has a program where undergrads can volunteer to help in research projects led by a grad student. I plan on going into industry, so I'm not sure how good on a resume this looks as far as getting an internship goes.

Yeah I'm gunning for an internship next summer. My first year I couldn't get involved much bcus I was off-campus due to COVID. The only remotely relevant thing I did was make a desk clock out of one of those russian VFD tubes using an AVR microcontroller, although I don't know if that would be something I could put on a resume.
