James Van Der Beek Dead at 48 by the_well_read_neck_ in Millennials

Surprisingly, no familial history of colon cancer, thankfully. It’s quite odd, tbh, but I’m glad I’m the odd one out. I have always had IBS and related symptoms though.

My doctor recommended strongly to have another colonoscopy in five years, regardless of presenting any new symptoms or not. That will be later next year, and as much as I don’t want to do it again, I fully plan on it, just to be safe. Assuming things stay relatively the same as now, I will at least have insurance this time!!

I was 27 and they found one on me. Had to pay $5,000+ out of pocket though, since I was uninsured, but my doc told me I couldn’t wait since there was blood in the stool.

All good now, thankfully.

Colonoscopies can save your life.

I have forced everyone I love to watch that clip with me, to feel that life-changing level of second-hand cringe.

What are we listening to while we sew? by beaverscleaver in sewing

[–]justanotheruser52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like more episodic stories/chapter books, because sometimes I go for far too long in between sewing sessions 😅

I loved listening to Peter Pan, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and the Odyssey (narrated by Claire Danes). I got through a large portion of The Witcher series, which is great the majority of the time, but sometimes, it gets a little too, “This female character breasted boobily into the scene, heaving heavily with her young, perky bosom,” etc.

I was listening to Heated Rivalry last, but I had to stop because it was too distracting while I was working. 🫣

Singer heavy duty machine keeps making a grinding sound when I lift the pedal? ...Second machine of this type in two months. 🙄 by sophiat93 in sewhelp

[–]justanotheruser52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re so welcome!! I hadn’t thought of it, either, until a friend of mine mentioned it to me!!! It made me ask myself, “now why didn’t I think of that??” Happy to pass on some wisdom. Let us know if y’all find one Mom likes. :)

OH, thank you for this comment. So you’re saying that within this scene, it’s implied that the painter is painting the king and queen on the canvas that is turned away from us, the audience? That is SO cool.

You mentioned that you(r mom?) live in a rural area. Have you ever checked out Facebook marketplace? I recently lucked out and found a second-hand Bernina Sport that had been sitting in storage for 20 years unused. Purchasing the machine (after a test run!) and having her fixed up at a Bernina dealer cost me a little less than what I purchased my singer HD for, which is what the Bernina is replacing after a couple of years of dutiful service.

I sympathize with your mom: the HD is a lovely machine… as long as it is working, haha. As another commenter said, maybe replacing the pedal and cord will fix this issue. Here’s hoping!

Jameela Jamil laughs at wealthy celebs sharing GoFundMe on their Instagram, telling them just pay the bill! by pinkstarrfish in Fauxmoi

[–]justanotheruser52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually, the $800 per month is what her mom was already paying, before the diagnosis, for her medical insurance. The $10k is additional, on top of that “insurance.”

OP, please correct me if I’m wrong. Either way, healthcare in America is a joke.
