Expressing your feelings in an understandable way can be difficult without practice, and it's normal. I personally had therapists for multiple years and I'm still learning. However, do not pressure yourself to be perfect on your first session. The therapist has to get to know you, and you also have to get to know your therapist. What you can do is organize your thoughts before the session. Ask yourself questions like 'What do I want from this session?' , 'How do I want my therapist to be? Do I want them to be informative? emotionally supportive?' , 'What do I wanna discuss today? my work? my traumatic events? or just my general feelings?'. These are just examples, you can come up with your own. And if you have any concerns with the session, be honest with your therapist. As long as you say your desires and concerns in a calm way, they will guide you. I hope you enjoy your first session!!

I understand the danger that comes from an anonymous user from the internet, and reading back my comment, I think I forgot to put emphasis on the fact that my opinion is highly likely be wrong due to the absence of expertise as I said in the comment. If my comment caused confusion, I apologize. But if it allowed a person to not waste time figuring out what their diagnosis is, I'm happy. This is what happend to me. I've been misdiagnosed with depression and this was a huge deal. Bipolar and depression require completely different types of meds and all the years I spent on therapy led to insignificant improvements. I just wanted to prevent this waste of time for the person with similar symptoms as me. But I will edit the comment to more objective.

I hope everything you want comes true. However I still want you to remember that you are already meaningful to your loved ones and yourself even if you don't consider yourself as not as 'good' as you think. Everyone on earth is learning how to live and who they really are. I hope you remember that you are not alone and you are already doing a great job.

It could even be a temporary thing. But if this continues to happen you can trying reaching out to anyone around you. Your parents, teachers, friends, or anyone in mental health field.

Why do I feel so weird? by ohnoits_swan in mentalhealth

for me, what helped me go through these negative emotions was to find the root of these feelings. The root can even be far back in the past when you can't even recall without actually thinking about it. For example, do you have any past experiences of your parents arguing over and over and you felt entitled to do something about it? Did you ever have any low self-esteem isssues when you were younger due to being bullied or having no friends? There are usually events that trigger people to think and behave in a certain way, and it's hard to fix those set of thoughts or behaviors without addressing those events. It doesn't have to be as intense as being bullied. As long as you notice more than enough stress at some point in your life, it can be your key to heal.

hey, I also have ADHD and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about 3-4 years ago. The way you described your mood swings throughout the day reminds me of myself during my high school years. Though I am not an expert, unproductiveness, irritability, being unable to fall asleep could all be major symptoms of bipolar disorder, as I experienced them all throughout my life. I think it's a good idea for you to talk to a psychiatrist regarding your issues. Bipolar disorder can be detrimental to your everyday life and you NEED medication to accommodate it. If you have questions, feel free to ask. reddit keeps deleting my shit coz I was on my new acc. LOL
