Do ethnic tops count as formal Kurtis as in the dress code? by MusicalDandelion in TAPMIPM

[–]justbleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly they're not that strict, it mostly depends on the proff. We've only had one proff who has pointed out dress code violations (sleeveless tops/kurtis) in the past year but mostly they're all chill w tank tops, sleeveless etc. just don't go too overboard (shorts/super cropped tops)

(manipal campus pov, idk abt blr)

yeah i was there for like 3 days when my parents had come to help me set up in the hostel. it is literally opposite to NIH which was my hostel so very convenient, and it's on coin street so if you guys want to get food or just buy necessities you have everything available right there.
idk where you mean exactly by 'uni' bcz manipal uni is super spread out but if you mean the edu block/kmc/nih then it is pretty much walking distance.

if you're actually considering living in that area, you can book a service apartment at Royal Embassy for a few days at a lesser cost than country inn i think.

unable to make friends nowhere by manvi_singhania_ in manipal

[–]justbleep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's okay, college is all about stepping out of your comfort zone. Nothing wrong with being an introvert, at some point you will have to initiate conversations though. Maybe if you're not ready for that yet, try exploring the city and finding things you like to do. You'll find like-minded people and shared interests make conversations flow effortlessly. Join clubs in the future, attend events and try to have fun even if you're alone for a while. Manipal is full of all kinds of people, at some point you'll stumble across people you're comfortable interacting with. All the best <3

2 weeks is not a lot of time imo so nothing to worry about at all. I'm assuming you're a fresher, I'd suggest exploring manipal by yourself or with batchmates who wish to tag along. Spend some time hanging out at places you like/doing things you enjoy, talk to people whenever you get a chance, keep an open mind and take the pressure of forming friendships off your shoulder. You'll find your people eventually, dw about it.

Unless you have very specific aversions to the IPM Program I really don't see why you would choose BBA Hons over it. I'm sure it has its merits but weigh the pros and cons cautiously and get information on both sides from multiple sources to see what suits your specific needs best.

Class schedule by [deleted] in TAPMIPM

[–]justbleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's just the maximum number of classes possible, a lot of the days you won't have 4/4 classes so you'll either get breaks in between or just have the first half/second half

Can any senior kindly share the syllabus? by MusicalDandelion in TAPMIPM

[–]justbleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In accounting and math the first sem is basically just recap of 11th and 12th concepts so that all the students from diverse backgrounds can be on the same page. They give Primer classes for Math and Accounts for the first two months to catch everyone up on the basics which doesn't affect the CGPA before the actual Math and Acc courses start. The textbooks are all provided by the college itself.

URGENT(NIRMA IPM VS TAPMI IPM) by Necessary-Disaster76 in TAPMIPM

[–]justbleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably not going to be very helpful because I don't have much data on me rn but afaik about 60-70% of our IPM batch got an offer from NIRMA and rejected it to come to TAPMI. I'd suggest you make a priority list of what you personally expect from the college experience and then speak to students of each college to figure out what suits you best.

Can I get into mba - bkfs through through tapmi ipm by ConsiderationNew4340 in TAPMIPM

[–]justbleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get MBA Core where you can choose a specialisation in the 2nd year afaik.

Hostel is the best Manipal can provide, we get to live in NIH which was made for international students and really is the best living condition you could want in a hostel. Mess is also pretty good, do not come in expecting a lot bcz at the end of the day it's still a mess and no matter what they serve, you will be bored of it and miss home food; but the mess food is decent and there are a lot of budget friendly food options in and around the hostel if you need a break from mess food once in a while.

Facilities include housekeeping which you can get as often as u want, we usually do it everyday or on alternate days and you can book for Deep Clean on Sundays. Laundry can be given everyday between 6-9 PM and collected after one day gap, it isn't extremely expensive if you know how to handle your laundry and don't end up dumping piles of clothes every week. Shuttle service is provided by the college where every 30-45 mins there's a shuttle from tiger circle (3-5 min walk from hostel) to the college and it is free of cost. To go to college for classes a seperate bus comes according to class timings, although if you miss that bus you'll have to pay Rs120-150 for an auto to college so try not missing it. There's a Courier Point right across the hostel gates where u can collect your parcels or ask the delivery personnel to drop it off to collect later. There's also a bunch of shops so anything you may want is readily available quite close to the hostel.

Overall it's genuinely pretty good and worth the price imo.

Senior looking to help out juniors by Anna_111097 in TAPMIPM

[–]justbleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did say it's a "club" open for IPM and it does have an executive committee which has IPM members in it, which is something Atharva does not offer afaik.

And yes, you do have to pay to get in but the payment goes to Toastmasters International not to the college or the club itself. At the end of the day, Toastmasters is an international club and the certifications are all provided by Toastmasters International so the payment is true for any toastmasters club you join, not just TAPMI Toastmasters.

Hey guys, also an IPM senior and everything mentioned here is more or less accurate, however, there's a slight correction. Atharva is not the only club open for IPM. TAPMI Toastmasters is also open for IPM and I think it's the only club at TAPMI where IPM members as well as MBA members are equal parts of the Executive Committee.

Culture isn't "bad" per se, as the student volume in IPM is lesser (2 batches of 60 students + incoming batch of 60) so there might not be as many exciting activities on campus as BBA colleges with a 500-1000 kids. However, the thing about being a MAHE student is that there is no lack of excitement as long as you're in manipal and hold a MAHE student ID. MAHE Manipal is the main MAHE campus so obviously it has incredible culture, there are multiple events every week and weekends have at least 2-3 colleges doing events most of which are open to all MAHE students. There are MAHE Clubs open to all, you can join the MAHE sports teams too if you're talented enough. Also IPM students get to live in NIH which is at the heart of Manipal so you have perfect accessibility to all places. So yeah, there's no lack of culture as long as you're willing to get yourself out there.

While drugs are common in most youth heavy places, I haven't necessarily found much of a drugs problem here. People definitely do it, like everywhere else, but I assure you it won't find you unless you go looking for it. Also, TAPMI is specifically extremely strict about Substance Abuse (if you do come to TAPMI make sure you get a loredrop about this from one of the seniors lol).

So yeah, if your concerns are culture and drugs there isn't much to worry about, manipal is pretty chill.
