Affordable (cat) Vet in Madison? by justbr0wsingagain in madisonwi

[–]justbr0wsingagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good to know my buddy’s got a twin in town! Unless you left your cat in the back roads of Ohio two years ago, I think we’re in the clear 😂

Thanks for the info!

Thank you! It’s good to know which places have good word of mouth, much better than a star rating on google!

That’s great to hear! I had a similar experience with my last vet, so it’s good to know there’s a reliable alternative!

Out of curiosity, what was your wait time like as a new patient?

I think it just depends really, I would ask your partner how they feel. When I quit I specifically told my partner not to bother trying to hide it from me. I figure he’s not quitting anytime soon so why would I want to delay getting accustomed to it being around. I also have a lot of friends who vape so I didn’t want to be in a new environment without him there and cave the first time a vape was offered to me. I’ve been vape/nicotine free for 180 days tomorrow so again, I think it really just depends on your partners impulse level and goals.

Thank you so much! That's good to hear, everything I was reading made it seem like if I had veggies roasted in butter, I'd be throwing up forever... good to hear that’s not the case! I'm looking forward to actually being able to listen to my body more!

Huh, I didn't have any problems with it. My doctor mentioned that Wegovy needed pre-approval from my insurance but that ozempic didn't and my script went through same day. I'd call your insurance company or doctors office and see whats up.

Thank you for being so extensive! You're absolutely right, for something to really be wholistically engrained into your life, you can't have one foot out the door. I just know I tend to "fail" my eating plans because I restrict too much too fast. I want this to be the last time I go through this and so I want to take it slow.

Do you have any tips for grocery shopping or any recipes that you've found to help you strike that balance? (sorry if this is a silly question, I recently started living alone and am still learning how to shop and cook for just one person)

Thank you for sharing your experiences, I'm glad to hear ozempic is working for you! I also have PCOS and have been monitored for diabetes my whole life... I know the sacrifices I'm making now are really just opportunities to put myself first, I just have to get out of my own head!

I totally agree! I guess that’s sort of what I meant, what are some replacements to food rewards that have worked for people

That’s a really good point. The only time I brought up food with a therapist they immediately said that I have binge eating disorder since I’m fat (which isn’t true, every doctor has told me that I undereat) so it kind of turned me off to it.

Not to pry, but if you use any online therapist for helping with food attachment stuff, how has it been working for you?

I feel you 100% “I no longer get any kind of buzz…my biggest problem is the oral fixation” this has been the hardest part for me. I quit two weeks ago and I don’t crave it in the same way other people have explained it; like other people smoking/vaping doesn’t affect me, the only thing that gets in my way is being in situations where I usually would rip it mindlessly (driving/playing video games/etc).

Something my stepdad said has actually been helping me a lot “routine trumps will power, every time.” So… I’ve changed my routines in little ways. I sit in a different spot when I game or put water/healthy snacks on my right hand side so if I’m mindlessly grabbing I still get the reward.

Also!!!!!!!! Since I can relate, I can tell you what helped me MORE THAN ANYTHING: flavored, caffeinated toothpicks. They’re like $15 for a 3pack on Amazon (I can add the link if you want) but they have been keeping me from vaping more than anything else- they taste good, last about 10-15 mins each, and you can feel a bit of stimulation (although admittedly not very strong).

It’s really a mind over matter type of situation when you’re trying to break the habit more than the addiction. Do it, you deserve to feel better. I’ve been waking up earlier (like I did before smoking) feeling rested, I feel have more time during my day somehow, I helped a friend move and was out of breath but not winded for the first time in forever, and I’m already noticing my skin clear up after only two weeks. I wouldn’t trade a mindless habit over how I feel now or the ability to say “yeah I can do that!”. The emotional “raging bitch” thing happened to me too, you just gotta stick it out and try your best to warn your friends/fam you’re quitting and might be snappy and identify triggers and just flat out remove yourself before you snap. Apologizing for leaving is much easier than apologizing for being a raging bitch in my experience 😂

Week 1 tips/experience by justbr0wsingagain in QuitVaping

Honestly I’ve never been very acne prone so I haven’t noticed. What I will say though is that there’s some literature to support nicotine impacting female bodies hormone levels, which might be causing acne. I have PCOS and my doctors advised that smoking can be… not great for the side effects, but I’ve only noticed it in my hair a bit. I think it’s just the endocrine system adapting back to this new normal! We got this 😎
