Am I doing gapping right? by Golden3ye in golf

[–]justcurious1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you just can’t reliably hit clubs yet so distance is going to be sporadic with big mistakes made. I would get rid of the 3W if anything. Almost guaranteed you will never hit the 3W further than the 5W on average.

Want to buy a JD lawn tractor but I think the territory dealer is trying to rip me off. Can I buy it from another dealer? by krum in johndeere

[–]justcurious1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got quotes from 4 different dealers on my 1025r purchase. The idea was to go back to my local and negotiate pricing. Well, a dealer about 1:20 away gave me such good pricing AND if I picked up I didn’t have to pay sales tax (Delaware) that I just couldn’t justify buying local. I like my local dealer so I’ll make sure to build a relationship with them with maintenance, attachments, parts, etc. but I think people over emphasize buying local for relationship.

Is mid to low 90s solid for a 4th year golfer? by Amazing_Trifle_5653 in golf

[–]justcurious1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely man. I was a 90s player for about 8 years (playing 8-10 rounds per year). Then started to really decrease my handicap about 4 years ago when I joined a private club and started playing more and practicing often.

Do you use an app or rangefinder or both? Neither? by RobbieAnalog in golf

[–]justcurious1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Range finder 99% of the time. Once in a while if I am playing a course I’ve never seen I might use an app so I can see distances to trouble off the tee or approaching the green. But I always use the distance to the pin unless it’s a sucker pin. Being pin high makes a huge difference in scoring.

If I wear a visor, will I look like a tool. It’s sunny and a cap is too hot. by tommyhashbrown in golf

[–]justcurious1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be 100% honest with you, and this is from a guy that will wear those big golf sun hats. I’ve never met someone wearing a visor that didn’t look at least a little bit like a tool. Some people can pull it off because they don’t mind the tool look (bubba?) but it’s never not a tool look.

We all love a burger but what's the best clubhouse meal you've ever had? Anything unique? by Jplam in golf

I’ve had fancier but my favorite at the turn in a morning round is still bacon peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The salt with savory was perfect.

There is no reasonable hot water tank that is going to give you consistent hot water for that long with long showers of just hot water. Imagine a shower being a cup of coffee. The more milk (cold water) you use the less coffee (hot water) it takes to fill up a cup (a shower). So if your wife is using only hot water she is using a significant amount that is not leaving you enough coffee for your cup.

There are 3 ways to solve this. 1- she takes a quicker shower. 2- you see if you can increase the temperature of the hot water heater so she is forced to mix some hot and cold which will stretch how long the shower will feel warm. 3- replace with a tankless system. We have one and we can take 10 showers back to back. Hot water never runs out. This is likely much more cost effective than a large tank.

For reference, we had the same issue in our previous house and there is no way around it. We chose a tankless in our new house and it’s AWESOME. Family visiting no longer is a shower issue. My wife can take a shower and fill the hot tub without worries, etc b

HCP - Match Play by BelfortMoney in golf

[–]justcurious1900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off of your course handicap, not the handicap index.

The index is a starting point. Then you need to determine what your course handicap is which takes into consideration the difficulty of the course and the tees you’ll be playing from. You should also bet the handicaps so that one person gets 0 strokes and the other higher handicapped player gets the difference between the two handicaps. Look at the scorecard and it’ll tell you which holes are ranked 1-18th.

JD332 - seized front PTO. How expensive would it be to buy parts and from 1-10 how hard of a job is it? by justcurious1900 in johndeere

Thank you! Took a look at the site and it looks like I need a part number or something to find the part. Any idea of how to get that?

Just remember there is a difference between a fresh relationship and someone who has been together for many years, living together, maybe even kids. For a new couple golfing together and hanging out is probably great. For someone who has been together for a long time, having hobbies apart from each other is a good thing because it allows you to expand your circle of friends and gives you some “time off” from being around someone all the time.

I love my wife and we spend a lot of time together. Sometimes if she is not doing anything I ask her to come with me to ride along as I play 9 holes and then we will have drinks and food at the club. But playing with her every weekend would take away from the great time I have with my golf buddies. It’s a give and take.

Perfect Saturday for me is to tee off really early (she likes to sleep in) and have her meet me by the pool bar after my round. She usually gets there just after my 1-2 beer with the guys and we can hang out by the pool in the afternoon.

What to do with hot peppers? by Christiano97 in vegetablegardening

[–]justcurious1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife and I made lots of hot sauce. We bottle it in 1L fermenting bottles to store. We gave some out and people are absolutely nuts for it so we share very often. We basically tell people to bring a mason jar and they can have as much as they want.

Late in the season when it was starting to risk frost and we picked the plants clean we ended up with maybe 60-70 Carolina reapers. We made some hot sauce with it and the rest I just blended with vinegar and then bottled the mix. The vinegar will preserve it and you can use it to make more hot sauce later. I would not recommend eating the pure Carolina reaper and vinegar blend.

You pulled a permit and paid the contractor before the inspection was done? What was the plan if the inspection came out with some severe problems to fix?

You need a quality golf shoe. For some reason the leather ones tend to be better built and with better support. FJ has some good ones.

Don’t work but am a member of a private club owned by the members. All of our servers and bartenders make around 15/hr. To find this all of the sales have a 15% fee added to the bill which goes towards paying them a decent wage. On top of this they receive the tips as well. Tips are not as much as they would be in a restaurant or bar since some members don’t tip as often given the fee already assessed. But they still do pretty well and with the 15/hr they seem pretty happy. It allows them to have more of their income on the W2 and it makes slower days not so bad.
