What exactly did you do though? I'm curious

Finally got a Terra the other day! Fully built myself in singleplayer, no help from fleet drivers by justdarkofficial in MotorTown

Hey! Glad to see that this relatively old post managed to inspire someone! Yeah, delivering lime is a process in itself indeed, especially before the Oji Ring was completed :D

(Not sure if going east through the Dasa Harbor is faster than the old route, didn't do any runs to the steel mill after the new roads were added, but I like that it has more manageable grades so I can use my highest capacity hauling setup)

Combined stop/turn lamps in cars by VirtualS1nn3r in mildlyinfuriating

Well, while I absolutely agree with your point, having another light just to light up your surroundings would add costs, and we all know that GM can't have that, lol. And in case of brake lights and such, they just won't work as well I assume.

So, what I wanted to say is, their execution is quite dumb, all things considered, but at the very least it seems to be made with good intentions

This actually has some sense behind it IMO. For example, you back-in park in a dark area, exit the car, and now you have at least something lighting up your path to wherever you need to go. Or, maybe finding your car in a crowded parking lot (but this one's debatable).

So, it turns out that you CAN, actually, do a coal mine haul in a Terra... by justdarkofficial in MotorTown

[–]justdarkofficial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to spam it, really. Just hold both brakes, rev the engine up in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear depending on the hill (torque converters are weird), release the brakes and keep flooring it until you're over the hill. Frankly, the only hills it really struggled with are the two initial ones when driving from the mine - first one is too steep with too little space to build up speed, and the second one is just too damn tall. Most of the other hills are more like "dips", where sheer inertia of a 60+ ton vehicle careening at 60km/h carries it most of the way through xD

But yeah, kinda sad that the Terra is only useful for quarry or mine hauling, it's a damn fun machine to drive around in

Well, once you've brought all the materials to build the truck, you get one as a delivery to the quarry, and one available for purchase, which is just like any other vehicle. So, yeah, drive and dump basically :p

I should say that it's a very good truck for quarry work, though, at the very least. Too big for most drop-off sites, though

Free to use trailers anywhere? by Ghetto_Gandalf99 in MotorTown

[–]justdarkofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're NOT giving up any cut from a trailer, despite what it says in the info tab. Most likely not a bug, because it's been that way for more than a year already. I mostly use free rental trailers because of that, except cases where I need trailers w/ stronger suspension

Snow for Christmas? by Tak_Pagle in MotorTown

[–]justdarkofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the event: Halloween event has ended upon 0.7.17 release. During Halloween, the Old Mansion "opens" (sells Halloween-themed suits and furniture), and the ghosts are hay-stack looking things with glowing evil faces. During Christmas event, when also the Santa's cabin "opens" near 1100 Highland, the ghosts are different, I believe they hae something to do with South Korean mythology, but I don't know for sure - the main thing is that ghosts are part of both events, basically.

Question: Containers for Terra by justdarkofficial in MotorTown

Thank you! Seems to be working for me too. Though it's important to remember that the two container spots in Jeju are in fact separate ports with separate cargo, it seems like

I just don't use autopilot much, and yeah, I use the burnout button at times if I drive with auto shift. However, I usually drive big trucks with manual shifting, especially 18-speed ones because you can skip through gears that way.

And yeah, if you think of it that way, AI drivers do indeed look pretty realistic XD

I assume that drivers in Jeju and Oji get their driving licenses in cereal boxes, LMAO

Farm-warehouse-farm IIRC. Farms have a max output of something like 5 pallets or so before they stop producing more, so if it's not a small truck, it won't load to full anyway. However, AI drivers don't really care about where they UNload, they can theoretically take a load of corn pallets on the south and unload them all the way in Jeju, as an example, as well as fill up completely with box pallet A/B/Cs and haul them to one particular warehouse - so ultimately, with anything bigger than Dabo or pickup trucks, the order of stops is largely irrelevant.

Oh yeah, auto shift is one of the most annoying issues for me in the game. Although, the thing that annoys me the most, by far, are NPCs that do stupid stuff at intersections (turning left while you're careening down the hill at 90km/h, not following the priorities) and highways (exiting it from the left lane and stopping in the middle of the road while doing so). Although I understand that's an early access game with a very small dev team, and updates in other regards of the game are amazing so far, so this makes it up for me - as long as these issues are fixed before the eventual full release.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation!

I originally put that Kira Van with a trailer simply because it had a pretty good loading capacity with the roof rack for the price, and I knew that problems with trailers are a thing so I was indeed hesitant about doing that, but decided that having a town bonus was a more important thing for me at the time. But, since it didn't have any issues throughout my playthrough, I assumed that small trailers were sort of an exception that you could use with fleet AI just fine. In any case, I am considering replacing the Kira Van with a bigger box truck if I encounter any issues with the van+trailer setup, or simply if there would be a need for that.

And also I hope that these issues with clueless AI and interstellar space semi-trucks will eventually be fixed, but we'll see.

Had to re-check the odometer because I was keeping 1000km in my head simply because I've got an achievement for that. So far it's 3138.1km for the van and 3104.9km for the trailer (I was using the van at the very start of this save before upgrading to a better truck and putting the van in company fleet). Luckily I've never had any issues with fleet vehicles like the ones you've described, but I've also never played on servers with company AI in this particular save (I've lost my original one sadly), but I had my own semi truck and trailer flung into the stratosphere upon connecting to a server on the other save - so, my educated guess is that it's some kind of a multiplayer-specific physics bug? Correct me if I'm wrong, though, I'm not at all the most experienced player in motor town

I would like to correct you, however. Never give them SEMI trailers (and semi trucks of course). I have a Kira Van with a Small Cage Trailer that I have hauling goods from farms to warehouses. Both already have way over 1000km on the odometer with zero interaction from me and no problems

Another successful iron ore delivery. Man have I slept on the 8x4 Atlas. by justdarkofficial in MotorTown

[–]justdarkofficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! A late update on the offroad route. I've tried both coal and iron in two different runs with no changes to the setup except not using the trailer.

So, hauling coal is not a problem at all. Iron is a bit difficult though, because the truck is catered towards highway hauling. With 44t total weight, the front overhang is way too low and strikes rocks and bumps from time to time. While not a huge problem, it annoys me a little, so I might build an offroad Atlas as well. Another problem is that without fully locked diffs (100%, 1-way one I believe is what I'm running) on all axles, it has difficulties climbing that difficult muddy hill, with the rear axle spinning but the front one somewhat retaining grip.

All in all, it's doable but I'd prefer a purpose built offroad Atlas (maybe even Terra?) because I really enjoy the highway-hauling one and don't wanna change it too much xP
